Default Remaining Possibilities

Wanted to start a new thread --

Does anyone have any possibilities for the last scholarship? In looking at the roster, a guard / wing who can score would be where I would go with an addition.

Alexander -who would be a scoring guard - does not seem like a fit with this staff - for whatever reason.

I have not seen a lot of other transfers with interest in Oklahoma. Wondering what you "insiders" know?

It has been talked about ad nauseum why he isn't a likely fit. His family has turned off a lot of coaches because of the way they have handled the recruiting situation and what they believe he is compared to what others view him.

I've read all that. I just don't have first-hand or even second-hand knowledge of what is really going on there. I am not stumping for Alexander at all.

Alexander had the HBCU schools on his original list. I’m sure they would take him. In all seriousness Trey can play so hopefully he finds a good situation.

Saw he just got an offer from Creighton, so I imagine he will land on his feet.

Kids just headed elsewhere.

They’ve been through coaches

You would think if Moser was going to fill the last ship he'd be doing it pretty soon. I think they try to have the team in for the first summer session for workouts and that's less than two weeks, right? I wonder if he may just try to hang onto it for '22.

I may be way off but does it seem weird that Alondes hasn't landed anywhere yet? I was wondering if there was a chance he could stay. He fits the profile of the last ship they want to fill. Only thing is in one of his first press conferences when asked about him Moser seemed to give an emphatic no. Who knows...

I wouldn't mind having the kid from UCF (Mahan) for a year or two if he is willing to come off the bench if that is how things shake out. Good shooter (91% from the line and 44% from 3 on four attempts per game). I like his size (6'5) and rebounding (5 per game). Not sure how he defends, but it may not really matter.

I think whether we add a guy like him depends largely on where the staff sees J. Groves and Hill playing. If they are going to be 3's, we're probably okay numbers-wise. If Moser sees those guys primarily as 4's in his system, we're a little thin on true guards. Personally, I'd like to see those two guys play the 4 a lot more than they play the 3, but that is because I like having 3 true guards on the floor most of the time.

As a coach I probably look at things a little bit differently than some people on here but I'm not a big "three true guards" guy. I want a 3 man who is a little bigger that can defend...if he can shoot the three or be a bit of a slasher I'm happy.....I look for a longer shooter at the 4....to me that is the easiest spot on the floor to create big matchup problems. That spot has always been one of my best, if not THE best shooter for me...but I've been doign that for 20 years (probably before it was popular).

I'm no mathematician but I read his bio and it says he's already played 4 years, so I think you are correct.

Even better. He won't block anybody long-term or in recruiting.

I'd take him. Let Goldwire, Mahan, Gibson, Harkless, and Noland fight for most of the minutes at the 1-3 spots. Anything left can go to one of the freshman PG's or J. Groves/Hill.

Mahan is automatic take! Deep deep roster if that happens.

I like the 1 year type as well unless you know they are stars.

I agree. I always used a long, athletic kid at the 3. I wanted him to be a slasher and serviceable on the perimeter at least. He needed to be able to guard 3 positions and finish in transition. I think we have lacked athletic length in recent years and to me, that has hurt our defense and rebounding.

Agreed.....we won 23 games one year with a 3 who couldn't shoot a lick, but he could finish at the rim, was very athletic and could defend the other team's best perimeter could without any issues.

Same team had a 4 who hit 70 threes and a 2 who hit 77 threes
