Question Question on Girls High School BB Stat

The Wednesday Oklahoman sports page listed the stats for each class of Oklahoma girls basketball. In Class 2A the top rebounding stat was almost in another world among all the classes. It listed Padyn Knickle of Colbert averaging 27.1 rebounds a game and 678 total rebounds for the season. The next closest was 15.7 rebounds per game in Class 5A and 380 total rebounds for the season among the Independents (next was 377 in Class 5A).

I'm curious as to why the big diffenence? Can someone who knows about Ms. Knickle explain?

We don't want her, she's obviously a ball hog.

Sorry, just couldn't resist.

I'm reminded of when Stephanie Maghee played for Howe. I saw her in person in the state championship game. She put out no effort and got what seemed like every rebound and shot uncontested. It didn't work for her when she got to OU. This may be a case where the level of competition is a factor in this player's stats. There may not be many players in class 2A that can contest her, but she could be an average player in a higher class.

She doesn't show up in any of the top scoring stats. You only need to average a little over 10 points to do that. Not many put-backs or it's mostly defensive rebounds. Here's a link to an article about her on KXII tv in Ardmore. There is a video showing the article. Seeing the video, she's on the short side which indicates she must be a little bulldog getting to those rebounds.
