I hope to God they get beat. certainly hope it's a close game not a blowout. An elite ain't game should not be won by 32 points!!

Lady Bears Advance to National Title Game
https://baylorbears.com/news/2019/4/...itle-game.aspx

Quote:
TAMPA, Fla. – Moving one step closer to their third national championship, the top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears (36-1) held Oregon to one bucket over the last six minutes and pulled out a 72-67 win Friday night in the national semifinals at Amalie Arena.

Coming into the game with the third-best shooting percentage in the country, the Ducks (33-5) missed 12 of their last 13 shots and hit just 37 percent overall in their first Final Four appearance in program appearance.

"I do want to congratulate Baylor on a great game," Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. "They played like champions and deserve to move on."

Baylor's inside duo of Kalani Brown and Lauren Cox dominated inside, combining for 43 points on 18-of-26 shooting from the field and helping the Lady Bears outscore Oregon, 48-20, in the paint. Cox recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 21 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks, while Brown posted her fourth 20-point game in NCAA Tournament play and 31st in her career with 22 points and seven boards.

Wade Trophy winner Sabrina Ionescu scored a team-high 18 points, but was 0-for-7 in the fourth quarter and just 6-of-24 for the game. Satou Sabally and Erin Boley scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, and combined to knock down seven of the Ducks' 12 3-pointers

The Lady Bears, who have won 28 games in a row, will face either Notre Dame or UConn in Sunday's 5 p.m. CDT championship game. In its two previous championship game appearances, Baylor defeated Michigan State in 2005 and Notre Dame in 2012.

Rooting for UCONN in the nightcap. At least I can respect Geno, unlike Skeletor.

Right now, ND is looking like they might win. Irish probably have a better chance of knocking off Baylor's bigs of Brown and Cox.

I've read on here that Baylor has only won one real NC. For some reason the other one doesn't count.
So if they win the NC tomorrow night, does it count as a real NC or another fake one?

Here is a link to the NCAA listing of their national champions. If you note Baylor is listed for 2005 and 2012. Yes the both do count. The website is the NCAA website.

The team that won one of those was loaded with players brought in by illegal methods. That may be why many don't agree to count it as totally legitimate.

They were very, very lucky to beat Oregon. The best shooting team in the NCAA made only one of their last 13 shots. It is almost impossible to miss that many. And if you watched the game, you saw that most were wide open shots. Oregon could have easily made 5 or 6 more of those and won by a good margin.

Sorry you don't get to define what is a legitimate national championship. By rule all players were eligible to play. Come live in the real world like the rest of of us. It is what it is.

Oh. Come on. This is commonplace. In sports alone, we have all kinds of things which are rather selective. We have people who insist on an asterisk by a home run record of more than 154 games. We have a pile of people we won't vote into the baseball Hall of Fame as though there were some rules about morality or crime involved. Pete Rose, Frank McGwire, and Barry Bonds, Jr are apparently the violators of some unwritten rules that prevent them from being in the Hall of Fame. Half the time, Willie Mays isn't allowed to associate with them, and he was Mr Baseball. I don't know if any of their decisions would stand up in a legitimate court since they didn't have written rules. I don't even know that one of them is guilty of anything. But, we know that McGwire, Bonds, and Rose shouldn't have anything to do with baseball. Somebody made this value judgement. I haven't seen poll numbers on it.

We even have this in governments. The British really don't want to admit that Cromwell existed, kind of shoving that off into a hopeful area of oblivion that Churchill defined as the Darkest Hour of English history.

Just earlier this week, I heard a commentator suggest that any school that had as many violations of women's rights as Baylor shouldn't be allowed to play women's sports---one of the cable sports shows.

There was a teacher dismissed for having a nude topless photo she sent her boyfriend. I don't know that that is legal, nor do I know if an airport has the right to exclude a restaurant because it discriminates against some passengers. But, it is done every day. Nothing about Baylor is unique except that it happens to be a topic on an OU message board. But, people can draw their own judgements as to whether they accept an institution that violates their principles. That is not unreal. IT is so real that it is half of our news daily.

Just in case anyone missed this ...

Mulkey Earns USBWA National Coach of the Year
http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArtic...CLID=211798613

Quote:
April 05, 2019 .. Kim Mulkey of Baylor earned the National Coach of the Year Award as announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Friday.

This is the third time for Mulkey to win the USBWA's National Coach of the Year Award and her first since winning it in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Mulkey currently has the Lady Bears on the nation's longest winning streak at 27 games entering Saturday's Final Four game against Oregon in pursuit of her third national title.

Baylor has now been to 14 Sweet 16's, including 11 straight following its 10th regular-season and 10th Big 12 postseason championship this season. She is 574-99 in her career, an .853 career winning percentage that is second among active NCAA coaches and third all-time.

So did tonight’s NC count? 3 NCs might get Mulkey into the Hall of Fame.

If Kim is ever to be honored by the Hall of Fame as a coach, it would be because of something like tonight. She has the sympathy of playing the fourth without Lauren Cox.

Hall of Fame is for coaches who do something for the sport other than just win. Kim is unpopular enough not to be in the Hall of Fame forever if something doesn't help sell her image. She isn't the image that women's college basketball wants. She is more in the Bobby Knight image, throwing chairs.

No matter what you think of Kim, she has coached 3 teams to the National Championship.

That will be remembered so much more than any wall plaque hanging in some museum.

Her team played their guts out. They overcame adversity to win. They are champions. Nobody can take that away from the Baylor Bears. Nobody can take that away from Kim.

SC is not even remotely on the same level a coach as KM.

Kim will be elected to the HOF just like Bobby Knight was elected to the HOF although the Hall has chosen not to elect Eddie Sutton to day which is beyond me. And no Syb does not get a vote. I would not be surprised to see it happen at the Hall's next vote. JMHO.

Geno says “hi Kim, just eight more to go.”

Tell me how many football fans know who Gil Dobie was.
