Default Practices cancelled because of Covid

We had a positive and as of now they won't let us practice for two weeks. The guys can't even go to the gym and shoot.

Ugh. I will be surprised if this doesn’t happen to most teams but definitely not the news you want to hear as they need to be ramping up for the season.

I'm in full support of the utmost Covid cautiousness, but it is surprising that the confirmed negative players can't even work out with coaches individually.

The season starts in 12 days...

EDIT: I was wrong.. Per Ryan Aber, "The Sooners moved to individualized workouts this week but avoided a complete shutdown."

Agreed. To me, some of this contact tracing protocol is simply dumb. If you test negative, you should at least be able to shoot in the gym!

again - testing is not 100% correct. it may be a false negative due to lack of viral load and you may be asymptomatic. thus you could be infecting others.

Not trying to start a Covid thread, but you can get infected again. They wouldn't be good for the season.

not to mention mental fog that lasts for month in some, breathing problems, kidney problems, heart issues or a myriad of the other potential side-effects not to mention a chance of death. This isn't chicken pox.

How many instances of that has occurred. I remember hearing about an individual in Nevada.

Not going to start a Covid thread, you can look that up on your own.

That's fine and all but reinfection is extremely rare at this point. The first reported case was on October 12th. There are far more relevant aspects of how the virus is to be treated and approached which weigh more heavily. And on a side note i miss you. Have a healthy and prosperous day.

I just read the NCAA is working on a plan to host the tourney in Indianapolis this year. Technically not a bubble, but teams who advance will have to stay in the same hotel, etc in Indianapolis during the entire tournament. That means some could be there for a month.

I am glad they’re going to have the tourney, but I just get a chuckle that the “student” athlete mantra is used by the ncaa all the time until they start losing money. Then, they forget about the student part. I know, distance learning, blah blah blah.

We are getting 2 vaccines for Covid, both with reported >90% effective. I hope that’s true cuz they can’t get here fast enough.

I know someone personally who has gotten it twice, but was asymptomatic the second time. That said, with testing as inaccurate as it is, who knows....

I'm not in the this is stupid camp....nor am I in the end of the world...either.

I got it from my work partner by riding in his jeep for about 20 min with windows down...we drove to Mcdonalds for lunch while on a job. We were painting a house...so outside.

He had a slight fever (99/100) kind of like a stuffy nose. No sneezing coughing etc. 6 days later he was getting tested, day 7 he called said he had it. I tested that day...so 7 days from "exposure" was neg. Got the fever over the weekend, tested again on the following Monday day 10...was positive.

Wife was tested same day was neg. Got tested 5 days later still negative. She is O type blood and that seems to help negate it...so it seems.

So, yes testing is so-so....sickness wasn't death at all...slight fever (100) no taste or smell...

and my best friend Val Baker from OKC legal aide died from it as did my aunt Karen. Glad to hear you made it. But many didnt. And many of those that did suffered more than you. Count yourself lucky and not the whole story.

A very young colleague of mine lost her father and two of her grandparents, all within a 10-day span and I have many friends who have lost people dear to them, people who were healthy before they caught the virus. I've been lucky so far (both personally and among my loved ones), but someone very dear to me has it right now. She's felt awful for several days but hasn't so far been sick enough for hospitalization, thank heaven.

A friend's father in OKC has leukemia and wasn't able to be admitted to the hospital recently because of Covid-related overcrowding. Thankfully, he was admitted a couple of days later.

All of which is to say, I agree with Coolm.

Cases are exploding in countries that have a lot more strict rules than we do.

This virus is going to do what it is going to do.
Protect the vulnerable and get back to living life.
If you don't feel comfortable living life, make the appropriate changes
