Default Victor Iwuakor Getting Some Twitter Love...

Encouraging tweet here from Jon Rothstein, who is always in the know, on Victor Iwuakor (my apologies if this was already in another message)...

"Well embedded moles in Norman are already raving about the versatility of Oklahoma freshman Victor Iwuakor. 6-7 and can guard 1-5. Will be a factor in the Sooners' rotation."

Really love hearing that. I would also love it if the new guys were decent or better at the FT line.

OSU at 6 and West Virginia at 7? Surely those must be his national rankings for those two. (I only joke because I know bigabd can handle some good-natured humor at his expense.)

Austin Reeves named 1 of the major transfers. JB names 1 of the breakout players.

I know I am falling victim to the off season/preseason trap of getting excited but the more I see and hear about this team, the more excited i get. After the last few years I would be thrilled to finish 4th in the league and get a first day bye in the Big 12 tourney.

I also ran into Alex Brown this weekend (great guy by the way)and he told me he is enjoying being a fan and in his words "It's easy to be a fan of this team, they are going to be exciting to watch".

Even more reason to be excited!

I have high expectations for Vic. I see him as more athletic/more skilled version of Doolittle.
A very solid upgrade at that position.

Not more skilled. Vic Offense needs to progress to catch up with Doo.

Agreed. This team is also going to be a lot better than some people think. Not much Jon Rothstein is saying comes as a surprise to me. I have said for sometime that Victor Iwuakor is going to be a beast. I don’t see how anyone can watch his highlight videos and not be impressed. I didn’t know he is capable of guarding 1-5 on defense. That is a surprise to me too, just one more reason to make me believe he will be playing starter minutes by conference time.

The same is true of De’Vion Harmon. He’s a born leader who will bring a complete point guard game to the table, and that includes defense. No one will have to give him any help on the weak side. But, if help on defense is needed, I think the shot blockers on this team will be there.

One thing is certain, no one should question the high praise Reaves and JB are receiving. Some of the best basketball minds on this board have been telling us Austin will be one of, if not the best player on this team. I have no doubt they will be right. Jamal did enough to erase any doubt last year.

Yeah, this was my reaction, too. More athletic, yes, at least from what we have heard and watched on video. But more skilled than one of the best players in the conference? Highly unlikely, especially since we have heard for a while that his offense is very much a work in progress. Regardless, very excited to have him. And for a national writer to single him out for praise is a great sign that Vic is really playing well in practice.

Hmmmm... TCU. If they are last then there just aren't any bad teams in the league... 3 seniors in the backcourt, a stud at center, and a few guys to cycle in at the 4 and other guards to play smaller... You know Dixon will have them well coached.

Hard to believe this is what the last place team looks like....

At some point in the future. Maybe by end of next year.
The sooner the better wouldn't you agree?

I agree on the sooner the better, but I don't think this year is realistic. Would love to be wrong.

I'd say TCU, Iowa St, & KSU battle it out for 8-10. 3 tiers this year imo, with KU easily being #1.

I think Vic is more athletic than Doo. He is nowhere as near skilled at this point offensively. Although he will finish at the rim very well.

He shot over 50% from the floor.
Obviously many jump shots but that’s good enough for 100th in all the NCAA.
