This. We haven't seen the results that either we or he want, but he's very well respected in basketball circles.
They would be able to sell him to ND supporters. He wouldn't be the guy that was finishing at or near .500 at OU. He'd be the guy that took Loyola to the Final Four.

Re: ND job opening
I don’t see ND paying the $9 mil buyout. The ND job seems like a dream job for Moser. He’d be a great fit there.

Re: ND job opening
On face value ND would not be near the job OU is. BUT, I think he would be more suited to coach at ND. The expectations of making the tournament would be lower. Finish with a winning record at ND, make the tourney every three or four years, and maybe make a run. And do so not having to play the brutal Big 12. I think that's achievable for him.
But, on the other hand...it he's a true competitor the Big 12 may have a certain appeal. I mean he's coaching in the best conference in modern era for basketball. You don't get more challenging and, in a way, exciting than that. We fans may think he's already wanting out, but to him he could just be getting started. Maybe he's sick of being mid-major guy and wants to prove himself on the big stage year in and year out. Just my two cents.
But none of this means jack if ND is all a false rumor.

Eh, with every passing game I think the one run to the Final Four is getting harder to get excited about. He's had like fifty games at OU and it has been disappointing to say the least. Any ND fan who even halfway pays attention would pick up on that.

Per the Jeff Goodman tweet, the buyout goes down to $6M on April 1. It's still a lot of money. I don't know if ND would be willing to pay that, either.
But he would be a great fit there.

He’s a much better fit at ND, I could see him being better there than OU. I still think he can be good at OU.

Re: ND job opening
Regardless of the complaints about late game, I like Porter. I live a few blocks away from Lloyd Noble and attend every game and I like his passion. I saw some people earlier question his interaction with the other coaches, but I see him constantly seeking their advice throughout game, something that is probably not show on TV. I like the little things he does with the program, even though we dont show up in force most of the time to the games. There is also a reason we had the leads we developed to begin with. It is clear we have some serious deficiencies in key positions. The question is do you feel comfortable with his ability to address these deficiencies and get us over the hump? The ability to bring in a transfer to replace Groves is our key to future success it seems.

If I were him (Catholic guy from Chicago), I'd crawl to Notre Dame, even if they're a football school.

He doesn’t have to crawl. I’d gladly drive him.

Re: ND job opening
For what Moser has done so far at OU, Domers would probably laugh at the suggestion that the Irish would bring him to South Bend.

it would be a very good landing spot for Moser. I would not be heart broken if he left but i'm worried we wouldn't get someone that is better.
I still think Moser can turn it around and want him to stay but it seems like a good match

Re: ND job opening
If a HOF coach can be forgiven for a 11-20 disaster in his seventh season, Porter Moser deserves our support in his second year and beyond! He’ll definitely get mine!!!

Re: ND job opening
I wouldn't be upset... because with a single phone call we could bring in Quannas White to lead the program and assemble a fantastic staff around him.
He has been coaching under Kelvin Sampson for 6-7 years at Houston.
He coached under Rick Stansbury for a 3 years at Western Kentucky.
He coached under Ed Conroy at Tulane for 2-3 years prior to that.
Head Coach: Quannas White (42 years old)
Assistant Coach: Bob Hoffman (currently at UCO)
Assistant Coach: Doc Sadler (currently at OU)
Assistant Coach: Ryan Humphrey (currently at OU)
Assistant Coach: Hollis Price (currently at Houston)

I would take Quannas in a heartbeat! I also think he might be interested. He has to know Kelvin will stay at UH until Kellen is ready to take over.
First assistant now or not, Q has some solid credentials. Two former Sooners is better than one should HP join the Q. Add the Hump and you’ve got a perfect trio. I also think the timing is right to hire an African American staff!
If Moser leaves, I’ll be on board with this idea!
