Taking over a program that was in the pits as well as stepping up to a stronger conference was probably a tough challenge.

Bio looks good but obviously hyped. Like Valentine and could he not bring Kurtwig along as a graduate transfer as he was a senior in 20-21. I think the NCAA granted everyone an extra season to make up for 2019-2020. Kurtwig and a good power forward from the portal would give him a good head start.

Good defensive and rebounding stats. Scored 71+ points a game. Decent not great. Like his offense better than Kruger's though. More disciplined, better movement and screening vs the roll offense employed by Kruger.

I feel that Kruger was a good coach, not a great coach but a superb human being. Will miss him.

I will assume Moser will be good until he proves otherwise.

Interesting video that goes a little behind the scenes of the hire.
- Joe C. has been in Chicago the past two days meeting with Moser and his people to get the deal done
- Loyola went up to 10 years/2.2M per year
- OU offer is likely greater than 3M per year
- Had interest from Indiana and Marquette, but would not entertain other offers while still coaching this season.

Well, not my first choice by any means, but Joe C. has more than earned my trust over the years, so I'm just going to (safely) assume that he knows better.

It took me a bit to remember my screen name and password instead of just lurking here , but this hire inspired me to post.

Nationally, it's pretty much a home run hire. I'm sure he will bring in the right assistants to help him recruit the area. I worry less about his overall coaching record compared to what he has done more recently, especially considering where he's coached to date. I promise Illinois knew all about Loyola-Chicago and scouted them well, but still got dismantled in the tournament. He's proven that he can coach. The last four years have been really good for him and this is, BY FAR, the best job he's had. I have a good feeling about this hire. Time will tell, but go ahead and count me in. Cheers!

Wow that's a huge commitment from Loyola. Joe C got his man.

Love his defense & knows how to build a roster. Will he be able to adapt to recruiting & tweak his offense to be as efficient as he likes in the Big12? Think it’s a good hire, will be interesting on how he fills out his staff.

The roster right now is very depleted. Gibson should be back with Harkless, Jalen Hill is a good athlete. If Alondes Williams can return that would be nice but the rest of the team will basically be new.

We can hope that Harmon and/or Manek return, but there's no guarantee of that, obviously.

Manek is transfer portal bound so that looks like a no But based on right now It's not looking good for either.

Been said that Harmon is done with college, Manek doesn’t fit Moser’s style. Williams is pretty key, if he stays with everyone else then OU just needs a good pg (Fatts Russell) & the guards are set. Gotta go get a starting big & a backup big.

There's nothing to prevent Manek from pulling out of the portal. If Moser would like to have him back, he may be able to convince him to stay. I'm not counting on his return, by any means (same with Harmon); I'm just not ruling it out. That's generally my approach -- wait and see.

His first job as a coach will be to recruit those players that have entered the portal or declared for the NBA early

Gibson, Harkless, Williams, and Hill are all Moser style players. CJ Noland and Bijan give us depth at guard. We need a PG, a starting 5, and post depth.

I’m ecstatic. Looks a home run on paper. Well done Joe C. and welcome to Norman, Coach Moser!

Oh, and the talk of Harkless being even better next year under Moser has got me nearly as amped as this hire.

The national perception that it's a home run hire should give us positive recruiting momentum . It doesn't sign a kid but we get noticed, in more doors.

If we keep our guys and add 2 inside players/transfers we could be good.

Go see if the UT boards are reacting to this hire like OU fans reacted to them hiring Beard. Doubtful.

And as we all know, how fans on a Texas basketball message board react to this hire will be the key factor in whether it is a good move for our program. But I’m sure they are just relieved we didn’t hire the number two assistant from an AAC school, so you’re probably right.
