getting to the FF line and making those shots has been one of the best things he has done this year

The 3 starters w/the most free throw attempts are shooting at least 81.3 % or better.

Okay let's take a look... He's averaging just over 4 free throw attempts per game over the last 5 games. If you assume that every free throw he attempted is a shooting foul (and not a foul because we are in the bonus.) Then that means 2 more shots per game.

Yes, that is my point. Shooting less but its more like 5 to 6 attempts per game... And averaging 13.5 per game, that is great efficiency!

Yep, I made that point in my earlier post. He's way more under control.

You're right, I looked at free throws made instead of attempted, but if you assume that some of his free throws were shooting fouls because we were in the bonus then it probably about evens out.

But let's use 5 instead of 4, that raises the added shot attempts to 2.5 per game instead of 2.

I have been one of those critical of Reaves and him trying to do too much or be a player he is not. I have said all along that if he just concentrates on being the best Austin Reaves, he can help us win games.

With his FT%, and his energy, and even ability to get some boards, he has shown more so the last few games how he can best help this team.

But as long as the Big 2 are playing well we can absorb some of his bad shooting, unfortunately that didnít happen at KU, have to have a better game from Manek tonight.

Adding in the Baylor game, Reaves the last 7 games

23-63 from the field, 36.5%

9-28 from three, 32%

11.6 ppg, 3.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds.

He hasn't made a 3-point shot since the Iowa State game.

His only "good" games have came against well below average talented teams. I challenge anyone to show me one good game he's had against a tournament level team.

When he has to play against athletic, long, talented teams he becomes a 100% liability.

I hit "reply" the second I read this, but lets look at the facts on that.

Tournament Locks
Wichita State - 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals
Creighton - 23 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Kansas - 4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists
Baylor - 8 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists
Texas Tech - 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists
Kansas - 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
WVU - 6 points, 2 rebounds
Baylor - 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists
Mississippi State - 9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists

The allegation doesn't seem to hold water. He has averaged 9.7ppg and 4.1 rebounds against these 9 NCAA Tournament locks, which is solid production. There are some catches to that though...

Against Creighton he was 4-16 from the field
Against Baylor in Waco he was 3-17 from the field
Against Kansas he was 1-9 from the field
Agaisnt Mississippi State he was 3-14 from the field
Etc...

So the production is decent, but the devil is in the details. These are the numbers though. They are what they are. Feel free to interpret them however you like.

Results based on efficiency and volume are two different animals.
