I hope the Arkansas team isn't trying to travel through this storm.

Baylor defeats A&M. They play again in about 30 minutes to determine who comes to Norman.

A&M all over Baylor in the second game, 7-0, all seven runs coming off the long ball (4 HRs).

Looking like we better be ready for the Aggies, they are really stroking it!

Spoke too soon... A&M hit another one out of the park to run-rule Baylor in 5 innings.

5 homers... our pitching better be equal to the task.

I heard them say Arizona State has one.

I'm really hoping we get another shot at Bama in the CWSyes, I realize we've got to win our Super Regional first. But that series with the Tide from last year still sticks in my craw. I didn't like that team then and I don't like them now. Would be great to get some payback for the way they beat us in last year's series.

Both Ricketts and Chamberlain make final 3 for POY.

http://www.soonersports.com/sports/w...052213aaa.html

Should me no question that one of them wins it based on their performance in the playoffs with Chamberlain having the best start in the regionals. Statistically no comparison between Chamberlain and Tennessee's Chavanne.

Stat Chamberlain----Chavanne

BA .461-------------------.470
Hits 67----------------------87
Runs 76---------------------68
HR 27------------------------7
RBI 77----------------------31
SLG% 1.110------------------.622
Walks 55--------------------28
Totl Bases 152-------------115
HBP 4------------------------1
SO 20----------------------10
OB% .615-----------------.540
FLD% .988----------------.957

These are a bit mixed up. Chamberlain has the higher slugging percentage, total bases, etc.

30% chance of precipitation through Sunday in Norman, per Weather.com...

They need to get their field-drying equipment out, if they have it.

Keilani struck out the side in the top of the first.

Washington beat Missouri, 2-1.
Michigan beat Louisiana-Lafayette, 4-3 in 8.
Washington now leads Missouri 1-0 in the sixth.

Chamberlain walked and went to second on a passed ball. Keilani had a two out single to drive her in with the first run, OU 1-0 after one.

I think that the Sooners got a fortuitous call on the force out at 2nd to retire the side in the second inning...

Sooners score two in the bottom of the 2nd, Chamberlain's double/triple should have been - she was called out. That kind of balances the call that favored OU in the 1st...

3-2 going into the bottom of the 6th for the Sooners.

I really was expecting more runs scored in this game, I wish that we could have cashed in our bases-loaded bottom of the 5th...

A tense game going into the bottom of the 6th, OU leading 3-2... then aTm pitchers lose their control, giving up 4 bases on balls... Keilani tops it off by crushing a 3-run homer to run-rule the Aggies, 10-2.

Good opening win, always like to win the opener!

There were a couple of other calls that went against OU that were incorrect. Casey was safe at first on a groundout, called out. The third hit for A&M was an out. The throw beat her.

Keilani had her good stuff tonight. She was tough. Except for two solid home runs, both of which were due to good hitters, Keilani dominated. Thirteen strikeouts out of eighteen outs. A&M has some power hitters, but they had trouble catching up with it, except for two pitches. But, even those two hitters struck out later.

We'll be a lot more efficient when Shelby and Jessica come out of their slumps.

A&M isn't known for pitching. We just weren't really hitting tonight.

Sooners beat the Aggies 8-0 in 5 innings. Great game by Ricketts and Pendley.

Ricketts didn't have a great weekend last weekend. But, she was sharp the past two days. She had nineteen (or 20) strikeouts in eleven innings. I think she allowed only six hits, none with runners on base. She walked one and hit one. When she isn't sharp, she walks and hits people.

Both Pendley and Ricketts had more rbis than A&M. Pendley has been in a little slump. She kind of broke out of it today.

The SEC claimed that it was THE conference right now. Since they didn't really participate in the California pre-conference tournaments, there wasn't any way to know how good they were. Kentucky and Georgia had gone west, but with poor results. Florida, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, and others barely left their own stadia, and they didn't really play anyone with any credentials. But, they got some pretty good seeding.

Last week, Georgia was eliminate by Arizona State. I think Georgia got one hit in two games against ASU. LSU was eliminated by Louisiana-Lafayette. Of course, OU eliminate Arkansas.

This weekend, Washington eliminated Missouri in Columbia, 2-1, 1-0. OU eliminated A&M 10-2, 8-0. UAB leads Florida 1--0. The ONLY SEC win in the super-regionals was by Tennessee---but it was over Alabama.

And yet, with all that, all that it takes is one or two moments of lost focus, one or two moments when the team is not playing their best, one or two instances of adversity, and you're staring at elimination.

Last year's last game against Alabama comes to mind: Bama's ace pitcher Traina was able to pitch in the top of the inning when little or no rain was falling.

Ricketts had to pitch in the bottom of the inning while a slow rain was falling, greatly impacting her control.
By the time that the officials suspended play, the damage was done.

We were the better team, but circumstances worked against us.
