Must win. Don’t lose focus. Kansas is not a gimme.

Nerve wracking 86-80 win. 23 for Madi, 18 for Ana, 15 for Liz and 11 for TRob. Close throughout the game but we were ahead for the entire 2nd half and made the necessary plays in the 4th quarter.

On to the Texas game Saturday

Frustrating that we gave up so many easy buckets to the same 3 players, especially in the first half, but Kansas is indeed not a gimme and that was a must-win for the conference race and a game we probably would’ve lost in years past. Survive and advance.

We didn’t score a bucket in the final 5:18 of the 4th but held on anyway.

Lot tougher, I think, than we thought it would be. We got the win.

The big hurdle is next!

I was surprised Kansas missed all those three pointers in the final minutes. Were they being shot but their good shooters? Maybe we wore them down.

I believe they were due for some misses. They shot lights out from behind the arc in the first half. They've got some good shooters, but they're not good enough to keep that pace up for an entire 40 minutes.

And, yes, I do believe we wore them down by the fourth qtr. OU does that to a lot of our opponents. The same thing happened at Waco. It must be exhausting trying to defend the Sooners for an entire 40-minute game.

Holly Kersgieter was 6 of 10 on 3 pointers and had 24 points. Probably had a little extra motivation since she is from Sand Springs. Do not think Coale offered her.

The announcers alluded to this. They said every 2 or 3 minutes, OU was subbing 2 or 3 players. It keeps everyone fresh and gives good experience to the bench players. It's interesting to compare the minutes played per player for each team. We played 9 players with Culliton getting the least amount of time on the court at 6 minutes. Look at the difference in the number of minutes played for our starters and KU's starters.

Hopefully at some point Jenny can bring in some legitimate bigs- even Kansas has them. 6’3” like Culleton isn’t big enough any more. Johnson is probably 6’4” so she will help some assuming she develops into a player, doesn’t seem there yet.

It wasn't easy in Norman so I knew it would be tough at KU.

They had a big big who is pretty good player, and was excellent in the 2nd half. And they have some good shooters who had to be carefully guarded on the perimeter. We had 19 bench points; they had 0. We made 10 of 21 three pointers; they made 8 of 22. Liz Scott had to stay out of foul trouble to guard their big girl. Liz played 30 minutes and wound up with 4 fouls.

This was a dangerous game and we won it. I am looking forward to Texas in Norman Saturday. I hope we have a large crowd.
