A 28% three point shooter who scores 9.8 points hits six threes and 24 points in one half, and OU only trails by three? At some point, Palmer should miss.

Why is it all WV players move without the ball and OU just stands there?

I think dealing with all the adversity this season helped win this game tonight. Battle tested! With many more battles to come! Very proud of the Sooners tonight indeed!

We got one point off the bench, Vegas didn't hit a single three, their poor shooting team is 40% from three point range, we commit twenty turnovers, and we win? John Wayne only thought he had true grit.

I really thought it was over at about the seven minute mark with the way we were playing, then Jo just went nuts. Every single player should give her their per diem for the week. What a gritty tough young lady. Sharane is starting to play to her "sixth man award" of last year. Morgan just kept soldiering on and did a fairly good job against their suffocating defense. Really proud of how the girls came together in the last five minutes and held off the Mountaineers. Looks like a really tough Big XII this year, as usual. Hopefully our adversity can carry us to some tough road wins. Sherri's relatively challenging non-conference schedule has done a good job getting the kids ready. If she continues with a relatively seven girl line up, our legs are going to be challenged. Lets hope Portia and Nicole can some how get quality minutes and continue to improve.

Amazing game in many ways. Amazing that the girls could keep their composure with all the hacking and fouling and the pressing defense. Real proud of the girls tonight.

Before the game started, if you would have told me we were going to score just 6 points from BTA, I would have said we lose.

Of course, if you would have told me that we would shoot 39 free throws, I would have said, we win.

Having 5 players in double figures was really big, especially since we weren't scoring from BTA as usual. I thought Sharane was the player of the game. If she could consistently play like that, it would be huge. Seeing Jo return to her former self (or maybe better) puts a smile on my face too.

I thought our defense in the last 5 minutes was what allowed us to win that game. Sherri used her bench well during that period and we got some critical stops and was able to inch out a win. One I will remember for a long time!

Some random thoughts:

As near as I can tell, over the past couple of games, we've pretty much stopped trying to make bounce passes into the post.

I think this team is re-discovering fanatical effort. Last night we saw multiple players playing with an intensity we were only seeing out of Whitney. Years ago, that intensity was a Sooner hallmark. It was something passed down from one class to the next. We (IMO) lost it somewhere in the Paris years. Maybe we're finding it again.

The referees were calling it close in other games besides ours. Texas committed 30 fouls against Iowa State, fouling out 4 players.

I really don't understand the logic behind a team playing the type of defense that WVU played last night. If they hadn't had a player who was unconscious behind the 3 point line, they might have lost by 15 points.

I remember when the Candyman first arrived at Texas A&M, he used a full court press to get turnovers for easy scores because he didn't have much offensive firepower - but he would back off a little bit as soon as he saw that the officials were going to call the fouls. He had good offensive players in his NC year, so he wasn't nearly as aggressive on defense.

Has anyone seen WVU play before? Is this always their MO? Did the officials they had in the Big East ignore the fouls?

I hadn't ever seen them play before but had read that they played similar to A&M. Maybe the officials were familiar with their style as Enterline was officiating and another woman who I've seen many times in national games. The other guy I haven't seen before, or at least I don't remember.

Outside the girl that had the game of her life, all their players were pretty much the same and interchangeable. I think Carey's philosophy is to just pressure, pressure, pressure and make the game as ugly as possible, ala A&M. When they get in foul trouble he just interchanges with another player on the bench that is very similar. I think WVU beat Notre Dame in South Bend last year. They will be a force in the Big 12.

Tycat. I agree with your post.

I thought we played poorly last night and still won. It seemed to me that last night is what happens to you if you play physical and the officials call the game within the rules, e.g. you lose. If the officials had just let everything go, like has occurred in some past A&M games, we would not have played well enough to win.

I thought A & M looked pretty good. I thought we played with great effort but with an absence of focus and mental intensity.

I don't know about you guys, and maybe I am seeing things, but Morgan looks heavier, out of shape and slower than last year. She is normally pretty heady, but she constantly picked up her dribble befoe she should have, had balls slapped away from her, and made some silly pass attempts last night. Over the last few games, she just hasn't looked the same as last year to me.

I still like her as a player. With maddie, whitney and KK out, she is going to have to really step it up offensively if we are going to go anywhere this year. Hopefully, I am just seeing things.

Cowboy, I think Morgan is Landry Jones double. They both can be great and then do things that makes you wonder about them. She can't be out of shape and play the minutes she does. One thing about both of them, they always seem to come through at the last minute.

I thought Morgan was Steady Eddie last night, and that was reinforced by what Coach said postgame about not letting their pressure make us speed up our cadence. When I find myself holding my breath is whenever Jaz is running the offense.

Absolutely right, Jaz had wide open lanes to drive through and constantly just dribbled around the floor or picked up her dribble with no one to pass to. I was impressed with how steady Mo kept the ship afloat. She made a couple of silly mistakes, but she was solid when we needed her and didn't play too much out of control. She may not be a Danielle Robinson, she may not be real flashy, but right now she is the best we have, and she can play for me any day of the week.
