Big time disagree, none in this group would start for most of the Big-12 - total lack of talent

Those recruits turned out to be misses, not what was thought. And the 2 transfers are Not Big-12 quality, we are finding that out big time. Not about coaching at all. Remember Coach Switzer said “it’s not the X’s and O’s It’s the Jimmy’s and Joe’s. That’s VERY true and still true.

Re: OU vs ISU 8PM CST ESPN2
I will only go so far as to say that our talent level makes the margin for error more slight. But we still have enough talent to win games. We have already shown it. Teams that we bested are winning games in major conferences against good teams. As has been mentioned by a couple of others Lon's style is best suited for skilled players that are self-starters. We don't match that. With this talent a disciplinarian would get more out of them.

Offensive rebounding % was nearly identical for both teams. I think OU rebounds very well given the lack of size up front.

Re: OU vs ISU 8PM CST ESPN2
Here's our postgame coverage. First, the recap from Eric Bailey...
Quote:
The Sooners now enter a must-win territory of their basketball schedule after suffering a death-by-paper-cut 75-74 loss to No. 17 Iowa State.
How hard was this Big 12 loss? Iowa State only made three field goals in the final four minutes. Each basket came at the shot-clock buzzer to drown any momentum that upset-minded Oklahoma had captured during its late rally.
“It’s tough. They had to do it three times in a row,” said OU forward Kristian Doolittle, who finished with a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds. “They weren’t able to get a good look or an easy look for multiple possessions in a row. It was something we’ve been lacking on in previous game.
“We were able to make them take tough shots, but they were able to hit them. It goes both ways. There will be another time when they won’t make those shots. We have to keep our head up and be ready for the next one.”
The losses are becoming tougher to swallow for Oklahoma and each defeat is choking the Sooners’ NCAA Tournament resume.
The Sooners (15-8 overall, 3-7 in Big 12) have lost five of seven games since a Jan. 5 home triumph against Oklahoma State.
Said Iowa State coach Steve Prohm: “(Oklahoma) was a desperate team tonight and it was a game that they probably needed to have … this is one we knew we had to come and get if we were going to hang around this thing.”
|
And here's Guerin Emig's postgame column...
Quote:
Oklahoma and Iowa State played a pretty stirring game here. It wasn’t as effortlessly beautiful as the ones these programs played in 2016. That was artistry you don’t see anywhere in the college game.
...
They lost Monday night simply because their opponent made more shots. That’s how they lost this game three years ago.
They lost because Buddy Hield scored 10 points in 60 seconds, or Isaiah Cousins stuck a 3-pointer right in the bridge of your nose.
They lost because Georges Niang scored off an impossibly controlled drive, or Monte Morris conjured up a cold-blooded 20-footer out of Hilton Coliseum’s hot air.
The Sooners and Cyclones are three years removed from those inspiring days. Sometimes it feels like 30.
Shayok, Tyrese Haliburton and Lindell Wiggington can be fun, and yet watching them is to miss Niang, Morris, Deonte Burton and Abdel Nader.
Manek, Doolittle, James and Calixte had joyful moments of their own Monday night, but it is a long, rather sad drop from Hield, Cousins, Ryan Spangler and Jordan Woodard. Three years ago Lon Kruger knew what he had, so he cranked the faucets and let the basketball flow.

Both of them very well defended. It just happens that Calixte was giving away about 7 or 8 inches.

8 it is for sure Lon and the coaches responsibility but the guys playing now were a lot of them 4’s so they were misses for sure. Bottom line is it’s still the Joe’s or the players. I could have coached Wayman and Blake to a ton of victories lol

Nice! America is slowly beginning to remove the stigma from sports betting.
