Not to be over the top, but if Godwin got a little stronger he could be dominant. He plays very physical in his current stature. The way he hammers guys boxing out on free throws. The way he battles for rebounds. He also seems to have a little bounce. And he actually has some at least average post moves. How many years does he have left after this one?

He has a COVID year. Jr this year but can play 2 more after this year. Same class as CJ and Bijan if he chooses.

I heard Godwin interviewed on the radio broadcast after the win over Seton Hall. A modest and impressive young man who is living his dream. He's thrilled to be playing at OU.

I’m sure he will be fine financially without it. His dad, Wendell, has a pretty good job at East Central University. But, if there was ever a walk on who deserves to be on scholarship based on his contribution to the team, it’s Sam Godwin.

I’m having a lot of fun watching the skinny kid I remember in junior high and high school play for my favorite University! Ada OU fans will have two hometown players to cheer for next year. I’m looking forward to it!

keeping him as a walk on would be unreal .. and great for the roster .. if he is ok with it

And Godwin gets in-state tuition and in-state waivers, so his tuition is really not that expensive. Sure he qualifies for an academic scholarship or two. But my guess is that he gets a scholarship.

As he should! Sam wouldn’t be a “referred walk on” if his family didn’t want or need the scholarship. If he earns the ship, ability to pay should not be a factor in the decision to give him what he deserves.

He absolutely has earned himself a scholarship!

Agree, a scholarship player gets more than just tuition/books… room, food, clothing, option for NIL.

If he deserves it he should get it.

NIL is open to non scholarship guys and food / team gear is now the same for everyone on the team ...
