Default Tonight's games

Texas lost at home to Radford, who also beat Notre Dame earlier this season. Dayton was up 7 late against Mississippi State but ended up losing by 7 ... would have been nice for our metrics had they picked up a win over a ranked team. I still expect them to win a lot of games and help us in that regard.

They’re back. I think last year was a one year blip.

Why are they playing Iowa so early in year?

Yeah it's odd but the Big Ten started doing that a year ago. Teams play a couple conference games this time of year, then go back to nonconference. This year it is because they have gone to a 20-game schedule.

Is this the earliest conference game in history? Seems odd to play it so soon.

Some Top-25 Games of Interest (Saturday, December 1, 2018)

103 .. (1) Gonzaga (8-0)
_92 ... Creighton (6-2)

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Gonzaga's Zach Norvell Jr. got off to a slow start against Creighton for the second year in a row. Like last year, he finished with a flurry. Norvell scored 23 of his career-high 28 points in the second half, and top-ranked Gonzaga wiped out an early double-digit deficit and beat Creighton 103-92 on Saturday.

*** Creighton visits Norman to play Oklahoma on December 18th.

71 .. (12) Kansas State (6-1)
83 .... Marquette (6-2)

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Markus Howard kept attacking the bucket and getting to the foul line against one of the best defensive teams in the country to set Marquette records. Howard had 45 points, a Marquette record for a regulation game, and went a school-best 19 of 21 from the free-throw line, his aggressive play setting the tone for Marquette in an 83-71 victory over No. 12 Kansas State on Saturday. Sacar Anim added 16 points for the Golden Eagles (6-2), who handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season.

78 .. (20) Texas Tech (7-0)
67 .... Memphis (3-4)

MIAMI (AP) -- Shooters get hot all the time in basketball. Tariq Owens says the same applies to shot-blockers like himself. And No. 20 Texas Tech is extremely fortunate that he found his way into a groove just in time on Saturday. Owens blocked six shots in the last nine minutes, fueling a 33-10 game-ending run that carried the Red Raiders to a 78-67 comeback win over Memphis on Saturday at the HoopHall Miami Invitational. Owens finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high-tying eight blocks in only 24 minutes.

61 .. (18) Oregon (4-3)
65 .... Houston (6-0)

HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Cougars opened their new home with a big victory. Armoni Brooks had 22 points and nine rebounds, Nate Hinton added 14 points and Houston won its 20th straight home game, 65-61 over 18th-ranked Oregon on Saturday night.

Brooks was 7 of 14 from the field, including 6 of 13 on 3-pointers, to lead Houston (6-0), which shot 33 percent from the field. Corey Davis had 12 points for Houston, which opened its new $60 million Fertitta Center. The Cougars' previous 19 straight home wins came at Texas Southern's H&PE Arena, their temporary home while the new arena was under construction.

''There's always one first night, one opening night,'' Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said, adding that with the recent facility upgrades at Houston, ''We can play big-time basketball. . We are knocking on the door, and these facilities are going to help us.''

NEW DIGS - The Fertitta Center is named after Houston Rockets owner and University of Houston system board of regents chairman Tilman Fertitta, who made a $20 million gift in August 2016. Fertitta, who briefly spoke pregame, delivered the game ball and gave it to the official scorer with a behind-the-back pass from the middle of the court.

I actually like it. I wish the Big 12 would do it. That way we didn't have to have conference games with no students on campus. OSU at home on January 5th is horrible.

The crowd support is so poor at those early January games because the students aren't back and everyone is still in football mode.

Last year the Big 10 moved their conference tournament to Madison Square Garden. And because Big East had already booked MSG for the usual conference tournament week, the Big 10 had their conference tournament a week early.

Because of that they started playing conference games early last year. But I don't remember it being this early.

This year the conference tournament is in Chicago and it looks like it is back to the normal week.

All that to say I have no idea.

You might be suprised.....it was 42-40 at one point. Then KU went on a crazy run.

In other news, WV hasn't figured out who they are yet. They don't really press much at all this year.

WVU is at risk of getting blown out by Florida. I know I should be cheering for WVU, but I can't stand them and a Mountaineers loss would make our win over the Gators look that much better.

WV is absolutely lost on offense without Jevon Carter this year.

WV and Florida doing their best to set back the game of basketball 60 years. This is beyond ugly.

Looks like we'll have our work cut out for us when we play at Northwestern. They gave #5 Michigan all they wanted tonight, with a game-winning shot rimming out at the buzzer. They played Indiana within two points as well.

Azubuike at KU rolled his ankle pretty badly last night. Self said they hope to have him back in about a month.
