Sam Houston is 4-3, losing three on the road, winning three at home. Texas Tech and Oral Roberts clobbered them. Ole Miss barely beat them. They did win one on the road, UTSan Antonio.

They have outscored their opponents: 75.71--69.00. They have been outrebounded: 38.71--39.43. Not a big team.

They shoot better (FG%) than their opponents: 41.47----39.13

Three point %: 34.31--27.38

Turnovers: 158 to opponents 174.

This should be an easy win. They are guard-strong. It will be interesting to see how ready Liz is to play. Has she been practicing? Conditioning and edge may take some time.

I am looking forward more to this game than for the typical easy opponent type game. LSU should have shown us what we can do. We did that against UConn last year, for 3 1/2 quarters. We can play well.

A real key is whether the version of Mandy that we saw against LSU becomes a regular contributor. She was so much different from what I had seen. She was quicker, more aggressive, less inclined to let someone take a rebound out of her hands, less fearful of someone blocking her shot, and had better hands than I had seen. If this Mandy continues to show up, we may well be at least adequate on the interior. She only made one bad pass that I saw.

I am hopeful of Liz's ability to step in and make a contribution. I don't know if she is as quick as Madi, but she is just as strong and slightly taller. Seems to be more offensive oriented than Madi is naturally.

We are beginning to see what Gabbi can do. Her impact seems to be from the three-point line to under the basket. Now, if she will stop running over people.

We may have the pieces necessary to challenge for at least #2 in the Big Twelve. I'm anxious to polish them against SHS.

This game is on my cable, but at 6:00 PM. I'll watch it then. But, for now, I'm on the radio.

It looks like Gabby is starting over Madi again today. Haynes over Cleveland for SHS.

#7 Louisville 67
#14 Kentucky 66 Final

Houston Baptist 51
Texas Tech 59 Final

A key to the game: don't let them define the pace. They love turnovers. SHS turns it over 22,6 times per game. But, they force 24.86 turnovers per game. Since they slightly lose rebound battles, they like to run to get shots.

so it's a much closer game than I expected, although I'm not incredibly surprised either with how we have been so far this year. Up by 13 with less than two minutes to go in the first half but it feels much closer. We haven't been turning it over as much but it seems like our offense could be much better. Getting a lot of points off of their turnovers it seems..
No sign of Scott yet. when did Simpson become such a horrible free throw shooter? I seem to remember her being a decent free throw shooter last year.

Houston not good away from home. I was more than a little surprised that the Big Twelve won 8 of 10 over the SEC in the challenge.

Time out to wish Ana Llanusa good luck in her goal to become a Civil Rights attorney. One of the things I love about women's athletics in all sports is that they take their academics seriously.

What was the injury that kept Bloom out until now?

I don't know that Bloom is injured. Just needs to learn. They indicate that Scott has a huge brace.

Scott did wear a huge brace, however she was not limping or showing any sign of her injury affecting her. She has got some mad skills with the ball! She is legit! I'm excited to see how she develops throughout the season. Praying to God she, as well as everyone else of course, can stay healthy and improve.

Another good win. It is nice that everyone got a chance to play in the game. Our players really need to practice FTs more, though. 68% for the season. That is a lot of points that we are missing out on.

Wins are good. Big wins are good.
Scott getting some game action before January is even better.
Is Tatum getting better at PG with increased minutes??

If 6 points on 3/7 shooting, 0-2 FTs, 5 TOs and 6 steals in 29 minutes is good. Wouldnít surprise me if Murcer got a shot next game to start since it looks like she did pretty well with the minutes she got by the stats.

Jessie was basically terrible at first but redeemed herself a bit the longer she played. She isnít the passer and distributor that T.V. is. Perhaps that can change. We need a point guard.

Sounds like they were pleased with Tatumís performance. I didnít get to see the game so the stats may be deceiving.

Actually I think Jessi is a better internal distributer than Tatum. I have never figured the assist thing. You toss the ball wide open player for a trey and you get an assist but an internal pass that is not right under the basket even when it results in a clear path to an easy basket is not one.

At the end of the season Jessi was running up big assist numbers. Too many turnovers but no more than most of the starters. Still you should get less turnovers from your point guard.

I actually missed Scott because I had the sound down. She looked enough like Williston that I thought it was Williston who I wondered where did she get that quickness. After I watched her prospect films I thought she was a smaller ViVi but more athletic. She could help us a lot inside if she can shed the rust in time.

I agree that Jessi makes some good passes and also she is a better scorer. We need both this year, and we need both to improve. Too many of our TO's were poor choices to even make the pass, not poorly thrown passes.
Both Scott and Bloom show promise, with Scott much closer to being able to help. Scott looked good, but rusty and overeager-4 fouls in a few minutes of PT

Would like to see a starting lineup of Murcer, Llanusa, Williams, Robertson, and Lampkin. With Gregory getting lots of minutes ans hopefully Scott when she rounds into shape.
