Yes…so I will throw in a new name - Tyrone Jones. It was the Big 8 Conference Tournament semi-final against Iowa State. We were down 2 points at the end; had the ball, and at that time were 0-17 from beyond the arc…and Tyrone Jones hit the 3 at the buzzer.
Had he missed, OU may very well have been the first #2 seed to lose to a #15 in the Dance. We were in a late-season funk…and were fortunate we were given a #1 seed before getting blown out by Missouri in the conference final. We went on to trail the #16 seed by 9 points with 4 minutes left before scoring the last 10 points to avoid a monumental upset. We then brought our A-game for the round of 32 before losing in the Sweet 16.

WF, you and I remember the Syracuse game in the same way. So many good Tubbs games that would make great programming when the ESPN+ deal takes over.
For years, the bloodletting we provided the Techsters in 1989 was the record for most points scored in a Southeast Regional game. Lucky to be there, because Mister Jennings and ETSU outplayed us for the first 36 two days before. The 87 and 89 teams were both senior-laden, but both played poorly down the stretch in the regular season. Both made the Sweet 16, too.

A lot of people despise Harkless on here, but that guy hit some clutch shots while at OU.

Neal's first year? Correct
I'm not sure i've ever been more let down than Neal's senior season. I had extremely high hopes for him and he was average.

I believe he broke his shooting hand and was in a cast all year. His thumb or something.

I was thinking about that a couple of days ago! Elijah was more likely to hit a tough, clutch shot than one that was wide open. He was also athletic enough to create his own shot in traffic.
It will be interesting to see how he fares at UNLV?

Maybe so...that was too long ago to remember

It's also why I couldn't rank Trae in the top 5.
If you need a clutch three, I want someone that is efficient at shooting 3s. Not just someone who has great range or makes a lot.

Best shooter doesn't mean most clutch.

We get that, but every player listed above both made and missed clutch shots during their OU career. That is why everyone is just listing the best pure shooters. Take Hollis Price, for example. The clutch shot he hit against TTech in “Clock-Gate” stressed out Bobby Knight for the rest of his coaching career…but Hollis often struggled in the Dance when we needed a key basket. Again, I could probably give examples of heroic and disappointment across the board.
