Auburn Probation

1. This has to sting for OSU.
2. Bruce Pearl finds it impossible to stay out of trouble.

Auburn banned them selves last season (before last season started)

Re: Auburn Probation
OSU's underwhelming results this year probably has taken a lot of the sting away from the postseason ban. I think it is mostly that they feel they always get screwed over by the NCAA.

The probably feel that Auburn got off easier than them.

Re: Auburn Probation
osu could have self imposed the year before cade and it would have been deemed acceptable. They waited, then appealed. The ban happening now is on their admins

Exactly! The article clearly states that Auburn avoided a post season ban by self reporting and accepting their fate. OSU chose to file an appeal for one season of glory with Cade and his brother. Now, they’re paying the price for their mistake.

I can't stand the complaining by the osu fanbase, but I don't think what they did was a mistake. Your best chance for a deep run was with Cade, so you delay a year to make sure you see his year through.

they could have self imposed a ban in the 2020 season .... that is the equivalent of what auburn did
osu didn't and waited until they were banned by the NCAA and then appealed to let cade play in the dance ...
I agree that appealing so they could make the dance last year was the right thing .. but their bad choice happened before that ..

I gotcha. My bet is they thought their cooperation would get them out of the postseason ban.

this is what i was trying to say. Self impose in october 2019 for the 2020 season. In hindsight it works even better for osu because it would have been a get out of jail free card with covid canceling the tournament
