I got a little sick to my stomach when I learned that Utah Stateís best player, Justin Bean, is a 6í 7Ē forward from Moore, Oklahoma.

It didnít get any better when I read that he is the Aggies' leader in points (24.0) and rebounds (12.3) per game. He also has a team-high seven steals and needs four points to top 100 for the season.

How did a player like Bean attend high school just up the road a piece from OUís campus end up at Utah State?

He'll be 25 years old before the season ends...imagine if we could keep a guy like Jalen Hill until he was 25.

Thanks! That answered my question!

I should have known the LDS played a role in his decision. The young men who take time out of their lives to go on a mission are dedicated, thatís for sure.

I saw part of USUís game against NM State. I was impressed with Justin Bean!

First of all LDS player. Usu is 80%

Manyang odomes or James all ranked a lot higher!

Bean was a bean poke out of hs. Ranked 22 in the state.

Like I said: he's 24 years old.

Also, he's on a heater through the first 4 games. He's never averaged more than 12 ppg in a season and is a career 30% 3 point shooter. Yet he's averaging 24 ppg and shooting 54% from downtown.

USU has played mostly close games, but the average Kenpom ranking of their opponents is higher than ours.

USU

Richmond - 69 (W, 85-74)
Pennsylvania -- 214 (W, 87-79, 2 OT)
NM State -- 111 (W, 85-58)

OU
NW State -- 330
UTSA -- 262
ECU -- 152
Ind State -- 157

USU is favored by about 5 points today. Which seems like a lot considering we are the power5 team, have not lost a game, and are ranked higher in every computer efficiency ranking.

I would have guessed a 1 point line either way.

I expect this is going to be a grinder.

I actually have met his brothers and played some pickup games with them. Wonderful family, and they were all really talented OK HS players. I've been cheering for him, but even I wouldn't have projected him as a big difference maker for OU. Seemed more along the lines of a Tyler Neal.

Going to be a tough game.

Main thing that can hurt us is if their big starts hitting 3s. Groves is having a tough time guarding him out there.

Weíve fallen in love with the 3 but some consecutive 2s have given us the lead.

Defense has been fantastic. Offense has been okay, but we are just missing everything.

I am not sure whether Cortes will be able to defend elite Big 12 guards just yet but I like him.

Agree. He is a matchup problem for the opposition.

Jacob Groves cannot defend at this level right now.

J. Groves canít defend well enough to see the floor again today. And that obviously doesnít bode well for Big 12 play.

Our willingness to switch on everything is getting us in trouble at times. Take care of the ball.
