Yes, there is no rule I'm aware of that would keep him out. I can't remember whether getting ejected for throwing a punch comes with a one-game suspension, but a flagrant two ejection doesn't have any carryover penalty.

Re: Manek
I agree No easy looks this year without Trae. Also we don’t run anything that is designed to get him a shot. He gets his by moving without the ball or spacing floor with James or Doo being Iso’d. Last year Trae would set him up. Just another reason that shows how good Trae was last year.

They run quite a few sets to get him open shots, also every oop play is for him.

Re: Manek
Manek drives me nuts. He is the most gifted player on the team currently. He is a natural shooter and he has great size for a wing player. He’s also athletic enough and has at times rebounded well. I view him as having a fairly high ceiling and one of the few (maybe only) guys on this current roster that would draw some intrigue/playing time for a REALLY good team. But he either fights with his confidence or his effort or his stamina— maybe all three. He seems disengaged at times. That doesn’t always mean he isn’t trying. Again, it could be confidence or fatigue. But there are way too many times I watch him and wonder what the heck he’s doing. A guy like Odomes on the other hand is always going 110mph. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the physical tools to max out at a very high level. But whatever his max is, he reaches it. I just hope Manek reaches his before he leaves.

I hope so too, but judging from recent history I'm skeptical.

Re: Manek
He just seems like a very immature kid. That is certainly something that should get better over time, although it's no guarantee it happens next year or during his time at OU.

This is correct.
Manek is one of the best kids you'll meet.
Im annoyed by the bashing, he's been pretty good for us the last 2 years.
Struggled early this year shooting but has been good.
He'll get stronger as he gets older, unlike some of us, its hard for him to add weight. He's not going to an All American every night.

Re: Manek
What do most of the guys do during the off-season?
I see some that need help in shooting free throws.... for four years. No improvement that I can see.
I would guess that some see their futures as limited and don't put in the work.
Would Manek be a candidate for the "beach routine" that Blake went through while he was at OU?

Re: Manek
It's nothing personal against the kid. My stance is that he is simply not good enough to be starting for a "good" OU team. He is the guy that should be filling that Freeman role off the bench, not starting at our 4/5 spot. I've seen the lack of maturity on the court stuff too, but my biggest complaint is that I just don't think he is talented enough to be playing the role he is being asked to play. And that is on Lon.

this is not a good take .... he is a winning player that should absolutly be starting and should be taking the most or second most shots on the team

He'll be starting for a good OU team the next 2 years. He's exactly what you're looking for in today's game. Shooter, length, fairly good rebounder.

You mean the kid who had 21 and 5 against KU when OU kicked the dog dooty out of them last week? To me, that’s proof he’s good enough to start for a good OU or most high major teams.
Who knows why he’s not motivated to play lights out in every game? I think he gets frustrated sometimes when he is overmatched by bigger stronger players in a physical game, especially when the officials are “letting them play.” If he could add twenty pounds or more of muscle to his frame, I think we would see a different Brady Manek. I relate very well to a kid who can’t seem to gain weight. I was like that when I was young. Wish I had some of that now. lol

Then that's even less excuse for why this is manifesting itself on the court. No excuse for the pouting, checking out, etc.

Re: Manek
I don't necessarily think this is fair. We don't run enough actual offense much of the time for him to get the ball back after he takes the hand-off at the top of the key. At this point, the offense is not designed to get him the ball, nor do we really run much to facilitate that option. I think most of his issues comes from conditioning, not effort. It is clear he tires throughout the game.

That speaks more to the guard talent on the current team than it does Manek's talents.
If we're a better team the next few years, I'm guessing Manek's involvement with the offense goes down, as we have better guards.
IMO, he is a one trick pony. He is a dude that can shoot it pretty well when left open. He can't get himself open. He doesn't create for teammates. And I think he is a liability inside. Maybe, and I do mean maybe, if he was coupled with an above average 5 and good guard play, he'd be okay. But his involvement in the offense needs to go down for this team to improve. And maybe it will next year. Hopefully.

Re: Manek
Some of the toughest things for a guy like Manek when transitioning to the college game is getting bigger/stronger and fnding a way to create your own shot. Last year he played with a phenomenal talent in Trae who drew multiple defenders and was a gifted passer so Manek never really had to get his own shot. He will get better. Anyone who doesn't think he should start for a good OU team is delusional imo. I think he will be all conference Sr year

I agree with most of this. Trae was good enough on his own to draw the attention away from Brady and get him open shots. I think we’ll see more of that next year when Harmon is running the offense.
I don’t agree that Brady is a one trick pony. McNeace, who has been limited mostly to a baby hook from inside eight feet is my definition of a one trick pony. Manek can shoot a face up jumper from fifteen and in, and drive with the ball when a lane opens up. He struggles with banging inside with bigger, physical players, but he has been better at that this season than he was last year.
If he adds a few pounds of muscle and hits the weight room in the off season, I think we’ll see a more well rounded player next season. If his role is reduced, it will be because his teammates next year are more productive. If guys like Reaves, Williams and Harmon are as good as advertised, that will help Manek get more open shots, much like he did with TY last season.
