Default Huge weekend

Where the talent will be on Saturday is in Norman. Oklahoma doesnít need a whole lot in the 2020 class thanks to a seven-man group that just enrolled. The Sooners will host already committed guard Trey Phipps and would love to close things out with his travel teammate, Bryce Thompson, who will also be on campus. The Sooners, along with Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina and Oklahoma State, are the top suitors for him.

Since very little is needed in the current recruiting cycle, the Sooners have invested more than the usual time on the earlier classes, which could pay off down the road. Manny Obaseki, Trey Alexander and Duncan Powell, each a member of the 2021 Rivals150, will be on campus. So, too, will be Bijan Cortes, Joseph Venzant, Demari Williams, RJ Keene, Matt Stone, Noah Shelby, Trae Clayton, Lee Dort and Brendan Hausen.

It wouldnít be a surprise to see at least two of those in attendance on Saturday, not including Phipps, to suit up for the Sooners when their college clocks begin.

Wonder why Robinson (Ada, OK) isn't coming. Seems like OU isn't on him as much as the other in state prospects.

Headed to visit TCU.

He is a huge target. He is on campus all the time. I think he'll be a sooner in the end.

Still odd though. Lot of his AAU teammates will be there. He's top 50 in the country. Needs to find that offense. But he has 2 years.

Is Robinson any relation to Crystal Robinson the NAIA all-american girls player who went to LA Tech out of Atoka High School and then ended her career at ECU. I covered her in HS and she was a phenomenal athlete. The rumor then was both her mom and dad were NAIA all-americans as well. She actually played varsity baseball for Atoka as a senior and I believe lead their team in hitting. Right last name (although common) and right area of the state.

Crystal is Jaxsonís Aunt. His mother also played D-1 basketball. Iíll be very disappointed if he goes to another school. Ada doesnít get many OU caliber basketball players.

By my count, OU has 12 scholarship players on roster. Only one of those is a senior (Doolittle)... which knocks it down to 11. Then you have Phipps, so back up to 12.

How many scholarships are you allowed?

Thirteen. Word is they’re saving that last ship for Thompson. He’s a 2020 recruit.

Most of the recruits visiting this weekend are 2021 and 2022 players. Robinson is 2022.

I've never been able to get excited about recruits that are years down the road.. I only ever care about the current year class for some reason.

I noticed that the majority of the recruits listed aren't ranked or have very few offers (some regional). Are these guys all OU/Big 12 caliber?

No but itís nice to let local kids visit, puts a good word out for Kruger when those schools do produce a stud.

Buddy and Trey at the alumni dinner/backyard BBQ at coach Kruger's with 300+ members of the student body and games and catering? Bryce getting the full court press.

Bryce Thompson spent a night in jail for domestic assault.

Thankfully it wasn't the real Bryce Thompson.

The only text I received said "it went great"

This was OU's first real elite camp as well. Staff coached dozens of 2020-23 kids. A lot of future Sooner hopefuls.

Thompson is a combo guard and will almost surely play off the ball if he comes to OU. I'd guess Harmon would be the happiest guy around if we land Thompson, given how hard Harmon tries to recruit guys to Norman.
