Post depth is the problem I see... They are VERY guard heavy. Anei, McGriff, and the Boones are the only post guys on roster... Every other player is a guard or wing. that means they need at least one of the Boones to be serviceable as a backup.

I think they are still working on a grad transfer big or another recruit. They were supposedly in on that JUCO forward that decommitted from Tech recently but I don't know how that is going to play out if it hasn't already.

Khalid Thomas is who I was thinking of but it appears he has already committed to Arizona State.

We all know post depth is overrated.

Yuri will be fine. Better boon twin is the post if I remember correctly.

Baylor and WVU would be the only others with legit front-courts. WVU being more traditional with a real center and a real power forward.

Wait we are talking about real centers...

All we’ve heard is how stupid Lon is for having “real” centers

What "real centers" has Lon ever had?

Lon's biggest problem is recruiting guys that cant play... I think we are fine in the paint now with Doo, Brady, Kuath as the primary rotation though.

I would love a real center that can actually play though.

I'm the one who thinks having traditional post up centers is losing basketball, and I'm also the one that thinks that OSU will be just fine with their frontcourt players. If an opponent wants to throw the ball inside and let a big man play back to the basket rather than letting your guards take 3s, I'm pumping my fist.

KU added a grad tran from Iowa who is an elite three point shooter and good defender. Wilson announces Wednesday. Unfortunately I think they are a top 5 team entering the season. That's why it's always premature to count Self out in April or May even if it seems like they don't have their typical class. They always find guys late when they need to.

Death taxes and KU.... added more talent every spring and summer than maybe any program.

I hate talking kids into skipping senior year.

Everyone talks about OSU seniors and their experience and their good incoming recruits but I think Anei is their best player. When he actually played they were a different team. I saw some stat where he almost averaged a triple double in the last 8 games with points, rebounds, blocks. I’m curious how he develops he’s a really solid player that’s very underrated.

That Likekele kid started on the USA U19 gold medal squad and supposedly his game is developing as well. He has a huge body for a point guard, looks like a linebacker out there.

Likele and Anei are very promising players... i like both of them a lot. Then you add that they have outstanding shooters around an entire second unit of 4 star talent and you've got yourself a squad.

West Virginia is going to be really tough this year, I predict. I am going to stick to my guns that they are top 3 in the Big 12 this year.

Even with all the transfers and how bad they were last year?

I think it is a very temporary lapse... The previous 4 years were 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd... Last year was the outlier... They had the Konate thing, and had to boot other starters off the team. Otherwise last year is a very different story.

The other thing... its just a well constructed team. Dominant front-court, good guards, true combo forward at the 3... Athletic ability, shooting, etc. Kind of like OSU this year... they just have a well put together team, with talent that makes sense. OU has been caught in that before... where talent exists but it doesn't make any sense. 8 post players and 3-4 guards, etc. Rosters that just aren't well assembled. OSU and WVU have rosters that make sense, holes filled, etc.

I expect WVU to be the best rebounding team in the league... with the best front-court duo in the league... if the guards are any good at all and play like they did the last 10 games of last year, they should have an excellent team.

PG: Jordan McCabe (6'0'' 185)
-Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin. Averaged 6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game as a true freshman after being forced into the lineup. Light clicked on in February and averaged 14ppg the last 10 games of the season.

SG: Taz Sherman (6'4'' 180)
-Juco Transfer from Collin County CC in Texas. Averaged 25.9 points, while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range. He also averaged 4.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game and shot 87 percent from the foul line. Had offers from WVU, OSU, Utah, SMU, and others.

SF: Jermaine Haley (6'7'' 215)
-2nd year player out of junior college. Light came on during the second part of the season and kind of went on a tear... Averaged 16.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game over the last 10 games of the season. Very versatile player on the wing who can do a little of everything.

PF: Oscar Tshiebwe (6'9'' 245)
-McDonalds All-American. Had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the McDonalds All-American Game. Known as the #1 rebounder in high school basketball. Being projected as a 1st round pick after his sophomore year. Likely to be the best freshman player in the Big 12.

C: Derek Culver (6'10'' 255)
-Averaged 11.5 points and 10 rebounds per game as a true freshman. A beast on the glass and was only a freshman. Not many players average a double double, let alone at his age. Had a game with 22 points and 21 rebounds against TCU. Had 16 points and 21 rebounds against Oklahoma State.

I was aware of both of those facts.

But they were pretty competitive late in the season (I can't imagine any Power 5 team gets very motivated for the CBI).
