Technically, you cannot displace someone from their original spot, offensively or defensively. I did not get to see the game so I don't know the play you are talking about but I have seen scenarios like that. Usually, the official will call a foul if the offense jumps up and the defensive undercuts them. It is a safety issue. As soon as the offense jumps, the defense must stop going backward.
