Kur has played well and is unlikely to redshirt.

Good news! Weíll need his size and length, especially on defense and on the boards.

Any news on Polla, Vbdad?

Hopefully we get some more details on how good Kur is.

Is he starter good? Or athlete off the bench good?

I hope Kur is the real deal.....

We will need a quality backup for Muni. Does anyone think Muni can improve on defense and cut down on his fouls????? So many of his fouls were unneeded and unforced. And he needs to learn to check his emotions and quit getting the technical fouls.

Muni needs to check his emotions? Are you sure heís the one who gets technical fouls? I agree he needs to play smarter on defense and cut back on his fouls. But, Iím hoping he develops a mean streak and plays with more aggression.
If he has been technical prone, I must have missed it.

Is it possible you have Muni confused with Khadeem Lattin?

lol...it's funny...He's prob one of the best opposition team guys...always helping guys up, etc...but he also gets T's for stupid crap. Grabbing someone going up for a lay-up, stuff like that...nothing "mean" or violent.

* maybe flagrant fouls vs T...

Really? Canít believe I don't remember the techs you and Tooney referenced. I would actually be happy if he showed a side we donít see too often. My biggest complaint about Muni is that heís too nice, too polite. Iíll watch for that side of his personality now. Thanks!

I don't remember which game it was.....I'm thinking it was in conference and I can't find stats on technical and flagrant fouls.

I'm almost sure that I remember him getting a couple of flagrant fouls during the year. One was when the other team was on a big run and an opponent had a slam dunk going.....and Jamuni just grabbed him while he was on the rim. It was just a bad play on his part, but it made me think he was letting his emotions get the better of him.

I think the other foul was very similar. Muni just needs to get tough and learn what he can get by with playing defense in the paint. And keeping the other team's big man out of the paint. Sounds easy, doesn't it????

I think Muni has the size, athleticism and skills to play in the NBA someday. Heís a superb athlete who makes everything look easy...maybe too easy. Heís so passive on the boards and on defense sometimes, I think itís possible NBA scouts will question his desire to reach that level.

Having said all of that, If Muni decides to come out of his shell and morph into his inner beast mode this season, I honestly believe there is no limit to how good he can be.

I think it's more Flagrant...

the one Tooney is talking about, I believe was in Bg12 tourney...tcu? had a break away dunk..clearly the guy was dunking it...just let him. No, He grabs him AFTER he frickin dunked it..or right about then. Didn't try to block it nothing...he did that a couple times during the year.

I agree..he's too frickin NICE! lol

Kur isn't going to be a starter this year.

Money has been battling some back issues. I think it is better now or at least I hope. He definitely needs to get meaner. He did get a couple of flagrants trying not to hurt a guy by grabbing them.

He has the talent to play in the league although he hasn't realized that is a possibility.

I donít think anyone thought or expected Kur to start this year...

Just saw a tweet from Pryzbylo linking to an article he wrote after watching practice. I'm not a subscriber so I can't read the article, but the tweet said that it is clear that defense is a priority this season. I expected that to be the case but it is nice to hear that it is, in fact, happening. If anyone has seen the article and has any other tidbits to pass along, I'm all ears!

Oh trust me, I agree. I never bought it when it was the players saying it last season -- something like that is hard to change midseason. But hearing it from someone who has watched a lot of practices over the years makes me think it is real this time.

I have made this comparison before, but I feel like this could be similar to what happened in 2014-15. The year before, we had a great offense but were horrible defensively, and it cost us down the stretch. They committed to defense in the offseason and were much, much better -- that is the year that ended in the Sweet 16. Lon obviously saw what happened last season and I'm sure he has made defense and toughness a huge emphasis.

Hopefully.. hard to get holdover players that weren't held accountable in the previous year, all of the sudden be held accountable and pushed to do things that were an option last year

Great to hear! Remember the team meeting after the season was over last spring? I was told the discussion was mainly about defense. Lon asked for a commitment from the players to get in shape and sell out on defense this season. He said he was embarrassed when friends contacted him to ask why his team didn’t play defense. Two players transferred after that meeting. The others promised things would be different this season. I believe that’s what Bob Pryzbylo saw when he watched the practice session.

If scoring is an issue you better be able to play defense, create turnover, and RUN. hahahaha. Hopefully we have a couple guys that can score a little. I'm hoping James has that year we have been waiting on him to have.

What would be a expected scoring average for James and Manek this year?

I thinking around 12 points per game each, but would like both to be 15+ per game. Not sure that will happen.

Is there anyone from the OUDaily covering OU basketball? A couple of years ago they had this kid who went to every practice and provided some great preseason practice coverage, boy I miss that. Wish they would assign someone to do that now..

Well we gotta replace almost 30 a game from TY and then another 8-10 from Lattin??

I hope CJ, Odomes, Money, and Manek can each improve in that category.
