Great news! He would be a nice addition. I'm especially impressed with his ability to shoot from three.

He had a couple of games this year where he scored over 30 pts. Was 6/6 from 3 pt line in one game. He would be a tremendous addition to next year's team.

I only problem I could see is does he feel like he has to start? If so, how does that effect Odomes, etc. They would both get plenty of playing time...and you have to start the best player...but you know how these things can impact guys in the locker room. Roles change every year for players. Odomes may very well be mature enough to handle a 6th man role.

It will probably be a tough sell with McGusty, Odomes and James all battling him for playing time. And that's not even considering Trae playing some at the 2 with Shep at the point. 5th year transfers sometimes just want to win so PT may not be a big factor for him.

Odomes belongs in the 6th-man role.

Egor's fit is ideal from my standpoint.

James? I could take his playing time and I dont have an ACL. I'm kidding, but seriously It would be TY, Egor, Mcgusty, Doolittle, and Lattin (should be Mcnease though)

OU assistant Carlin Hartman was an assistant at Rice when Egor played there (Egor played at Arizona State as a freshman). I think our chances to sign him are great if that's who they have at the top of their list.

Everyone is talking about his offensive game, but I like his 8.9 rebounds per game this past season and 7.0 the year before. He just doesn't play on the perimeter. He's willing to mix it up.

His ability to rebound and score inside also makes him a candidate to swing to the three if need be. That could open the door to more playing time, as well as more options in the rotation for our coaches.

The 3 is exactly where he he'll play. McGusty is our 2. Young our 1.

I'd say Odomes goes to the bench, or I suppose McGusty if he has a soph slump (I don't expect that).

I don't disagree that Egor's size and skills are more in line with playing the three. All I'm saying is he could play the two or the three "if need be." If he can shoot 47% from three, chances are good he would be the best perimeter shooter on our roster at any position. That makes him a candidate to play the two n my book, even if it's in a back up role.

Yes, McGusty will start at the two. But, unless his workouts this summer turns him into a bionic man, he not going to play all forty minutes. If the team needs more scoring from the perimeter, you don't think Egor Koulechov may be called on to swing to the two in some situations?

IMO, his size and skill set makes it not only possible but likely that he could play both positions.

I agree that he could play the 2 or the 3. Might even be able to play the 4 in a really, really small lineup if he is that good of a rebounder.

Too many fans get caught up in differences in the 2/3 spots IMO. Probably due to the NBA game coming to town, where there is a difference. But with the offense most college teams run, including OU, there is no difference. The 2 and 3 spots (and really the 1 spot after the initial pass) all do the exact same things in OU's offense. So at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.

If we land Mr. Koulechov, my preference would be to start him at the 3 over Odomes. But you are right, if McGusty leaves the game it's entirely possible to slide Koulechov down to the 2 and bring in Odomes for the 3. Again though, as to what they will do on offense, there is no difference. Any difference has more to do with the defensive end more than anything.

I watched about a dozen Rice games this year, and when the Owls coach bolted for VCU I immediately hoped that the Egor - Hartmann connection might bear fruit.

He's a really solid player all around, and as evidenced by his shooting percentages, when he's hot, he's boiling lava hot

We're definitely on the same page when it comes to the minor differences in the two and the three on offense. I can honestly say that I rarely give the position of any player on our team except the point guard much thought.

Koulechov would give us more versatility offensively in our rotation. If Odomes returns with the perimeter game I believe he already has in his repertoire, OU could be really good on offense next season.

I don't know if we should be recruiting a player who can't even spell "Igor" correctly.

He would be a great add for about 15 minutes per game. I'd still rather have a guy who can score in the post but a legit 3 pt shooter would be the 2nd best option.
