Default NBA/NBAPA talking about lowering the age...

It sounds like one and dones may be phased out eventually it won't happen right away even if approved though. Still yet to be negotiated though and it'll be a couple years before this happens most likely. And the one and dones will be longer. This could end up being good for college basketball because the players that stay in college are more likely to stay longer although that won't always be the case.

Would rather they change it to either the football or baseball rule.

Agree. Was tell my kid the same. Either go or stay… maybe 2 year minimum

I just feel this is unfair to a kid like Trae Young. He had no shot at being drafted out of high school, but tore it up in one season and played himself into a high lotto pick. Should he really have been forced to stay another year (or two) by an arbitrary rule? Not every kid/player develops at the same pace. Players should be able to decide for themselves when they are ready to declare for the draft. If they gamble wrong, that's on them, but at least they made the decision themselves rather than having it forced on them.

So you think the baseball rule should be changed? As long as the rule is clear and is administered uniformly, there is nothing unfair about it.

Baseball is a totally different story. The draft is much longer and thousands of players matriculate to the minors every year.

And no, just because a rule is clear and uniformly administered doesn’t make it fair. Back to my TY example — how is it fair to prevent him from earning a living when he was clearly ready to play and thrive in the NBA? He had nothing to gain and lots to potentially lose if he had been forced to go back to college. If he had gotten seriously injured, he would have lost tens of millions, not because he wasn’t good enough to be making a living in the NBA, but because someone randomly decided to force him to go pro before he was ready (after high school) or wait till long after he was ready. Sure, as college fans, it would be cool to have the best players stick around longer. But the players should be prioritized.
