Things is THIS team has talent and OU has a top 10 player joining the team next year... that alone should be enough to keep Sherri seat cold lol... I think Scott might be what the team next year but last I've checked she was hurt, maybe someone can confirm this... by the time this current group is seniors and juniors the team should be a he'll of a lot better if everyone stays put... if OU is going to make a push back towards the top of the league, Sherri has to sign some talent in the 2020 class...

I think Sherri should look to add 2 grad transfers next year, one at point guard and one at center, think about where the OU men would be without the 2 guards they added in the off-season...

That game was a stunner because they had a 37 game unbeaten streak going back to the Colorado game in 1972. In contrast, Sherri's team was 5-7. Sherri's team getting beat by KSU was NOT a stunner. OU had just barely got by a pathetic Texas Tech team. I thought they would lose to KSU in Manhattan. Yes, I watched the game. They were over matched by KSU and they will be the rest of the way. I will go on the record, they will be lucky to reach ten wins. It would not shock me if they didn't win another game.

Yeah, you want to talk about J. T. Gasso vs Colton Coale. J. T.'s record speaks for itself.

2012 - Grad Assistant OU - National Runner Up
2013 - Grad Assistant OU - National Champions
2014 - Assistant - Hitting Coach Purdue
2015 - Assistant - Hitting Coach Michigan State - Team vastly improved hitting
2016 - Assistant - Hitting Coach OU - National Champions
2017 - Assistant - Hitting Coach OU - National Champions
2018 - Assistant - Hitting Coach OU - WCWS Final Four
You validated my point exactly. My point was that any team can have one of those days in which they play way above their heads and look like superstars when they aren't. It took 11 fumbles lost for Kansas to upset OU. But, KU made no mistakes, and OU made a bunch. You see wild upsets in any sport.

K-State may or may not be better than OU. But, on this one night, they may have been the best team in the nation. OU had played brilliantly against a good UConn team that didn't shoot like K-State did. It was the night of the year----of a career for the K State coach.

I don't accept JT Gasso or his credentials at all. I'm not impressed that he was a hitting coach on some Big Ten team. I also give him no credit at all for teaching Romero, Knighten, Aviu, and Clifton how to hit. We recruited hitters. Alo didn't need Gasso to be a great hitter.

If anything, I question why Mendes came in with a picture perfect swing as a freshman and dropped off so badly as a sophomore. She developed a hole in her swing as someone tried too make her into a slap hitter. She became a sucker for an outside pitch. Wasn't even close on her swings. I also question why Romero became a strikeout queen late in the season when she had never struck out in her career. Nobody helped her out of a horrible season--ending slump. I also am irritated that he didn't correct the hole in Wodach's swing in which she couldn't hit anything over the plate fair. Pulled it foul. If anything, made a decent hitter ineffective with Arnold. We recruited talent. I see many other coaches transform unrecruited kids into outstanding hitters.

I don't know about Colton. But, I have yet to see a positive effect of nepotism at OU---yet.

With Scott, Gabby, and Chloe coming in, we can hope that they end up being the pieces needed on which to build a team. Madi needs some help on the boards.

We need for at least one of them to have a midrange shot.

We need, from some source, to have a guard who can settle the team down. That may be too much to expect from Tatum as a freshman. We have lost about three games that we could have won with some stability.

I don't know if transfers can be counted on as much as in men's basketball. The Notre Dame transfer was pure luck in how well it worked out. At least, it is the only one which seems really effective so far. The Romero to Florida State wasn't bad.

We may not make the tournament. It didn't help that we lost a recruiting class. But, it seems strange to be complaining when we are finally assembling a good group again. Isn't nineteen years enough to earn a grace period? who else has a nineteen-year string going?

No question Sherri's successes have warranted a grace period. But that grace period is now about 9 years in length. Sherri set the benchmark for expectations with 6 regular season conference championships, 4 conference tournament championships and 3 Final Fours during 2000-2010. She dominated both Texas and Baylor for the decade before evolving to a conference also ran for nearly a decade.

Today it is unfair to expect a top 5/10 team annually like Notre Dame and UConn. But there is nothing unreasonable about expecting Sooners to play on par with Baylor, Texas, Stanford, Maryland, Kentucky and Louisville. All of which have been ranked in the final top 10 2-5 times the last 5 years except Kentucky who has been ranked in the top 20 4 times.

OU has not been ranked in the top 20 in the last 5 seasons. They were ranked #24 2015-16 and #23 2016-17. 2000-2010 the Sooners were ranked in the top 5 twice, top 10 4 times and the top 14 8 times. 2011-2019 have not been ranked in the top 20 and have been unranked 6 times. I think nine seasons is a more than adequate grace period.

Well, at least Sybarite still supports Sherri...

He's essentially saying that she needs a grace period for not doing her job. with the type of money she makes, which is more than a lot of coaches that have produced better programs over the recent years, I would expect better results. I don't think it's too much to ask for consistency in a program. When a coach gets lazy that's when they need these 'passes.' as soon as she lost that class she should have had her butt out there picking up transfer players that would have been ready this year instead of relying on six freshmen and three sophomores! That's what I'm upset about mostly, the fact that she didn't put in the work to get these players in... I mean look at what Lon Kruger did as soon as he lost young and those transfer players, he went out and got a key role player graduate players.

You're absolutely correct. I could not have stated it better. IMHO, the unfortunate decline of competitiveness is a result of poor recruiting, staffing and player development that dates back to as early as 2007. But it's clearly what they want because nothing has really changed...actually has gotten worse. Que sera sera!

Really? Surely you jest (lots and lots of sarcasm)! After committing as a huge fan years ago (2001-2002), I saw the demise coming dating as far back as 2007. They/SC did not continue to build on the programs success. There was a shift. IMHO, like an arrogance. And some folks on this forum didn't like my comments. But like my Dad used to tell me after he had warned me..."I told you this here day was coming!" Just a shame and so unfortunate. But if the powers that be at OU ain't complaining... #boomer

Sherri is lucky that no one with the power really cares about the women program. IMO she doesn't deserve anymore grace period. She been living the good life..makes lots and lots of money, put her son on the money train for the ride. I wonder, she think that Colton will replace her when she's truly done? Gotta keep that $$ train rolling
