Stupid article. Trae has more defensive rebounds than the other guards, way more steals and more blocks than the others except Odomes. This notion that he doesn't play defense is stupid.

He gets long rebounds and is very good at judging where the ball is going to go.. He's good at picking off passes...doesn't mean he plays defense. I think he's at least trying at this point..early in the season he was the worst defender ever!

Trae is tied for fourth place in the conference at steals per game. I have never seen a bad defender lead his team and all but three guys in the conference in steals.

Bad defenders get steals a lot. James Harden is 10th in the NBA in steals.

Someone ran the numbers based on play types. He's bad at defending handoff plays, which I agree with. Everything else, he rates between "good" and "excellent".

There is a strong positive correlation between good defenders and getting steals.

Russell Westbrook may be the worst overall defensive point guard I have seen in a decade. In any class of basketball. He gets a lot of steals because he gambles. For each steal, he has 6 or 7 possessions where the opponent goes right by him. Steals are minimum when it comes to overall defense.
