Question: What’s even better than watching Gabby Gregory score most of the points for her Holland Hall basketball team?

Answer: Watching the senior standout help her teammates help her.

Gregory scored or assisted on every basket in a 21-point third quarter as the 4A No. 10 Dutch pulled away to a 54-41 win over No. 7 Victory Christian in Pinnacle Conference action Tuesday in the Holland Hall gym.

She totaled 30 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Dutch (14-2, 8-0) swept the season series from the Conquerors (11-4, 5-2) and took a two-game lead in the conference with four to play. The Dutch (14-2, 8-0) won 52-44 at Victory Christian (11-4, 5-2) on Nov. 30 in both teams’ first game.

“I think we proved the first time that we could play with them,” Gregory said. “We played with a chip on our shoulder tonight because they were ranked so much higher, even though we had more wins and had beaten them before.”

The University of Oklahoma signee scored 30 or more for the second straight game and fifth time this year. She went over 2,400 career points on a driving layup with 4:41 left and now totals 2,403, 18th in Oklahoma 5-on-5 girls career scoring.

The latest on Gabby...

Quote:
Holland Hall swept major honors for the Pinnacle Conference girls’ all-conference basketball team, announced Monday.

Dutch senior forward Gabby Gregory was chosen as the league MVP for the third straight year and Crystal Lawson was named coach of the year.

Lawson guided the Dutch to a 23-5 record overall, a 14-0 mark en route to the Pinnacle Conference title and into the state tournament for the third straight year.

The Dutch lost to No. 1-ranked and eventual runner-up Muldrow in the first round of the 4A state tournament in Oklahoma City last Thursday.

Gregory, named Gatorade state girls basketball player of the year, averaged 22.7 points and 10.5 rebounds as a senior, capping a brilliant career.

Over four seasons, she totaled 2,699 points, eighth in Oklahoma career scoring for 5-on-5 girls.

I think they have ceramics classes at the Fred Jones Museum at OU.

Another update on Gabby...

Quote:
Holland Hall’s Gabby Gregory received yet another basketball honor Wednesday when she was named Oklahoma girls player of the year by USA Today High School sports.

Earlier, the 6-foot senior was chosen Gatorade state player of the year after averaging 22.6 points and 10.3 rebounds while leading the Dutch into the 4A state tournament.

She is reigning All-World player of the year, as chosen by the Tulsa World, and is a finalist for the same honor in 2019. The winner will be announced at the third annual All-World Awards Banquet, June 22 at the Southern Hills Marriott.

From Eric Bailey: Gabby Gregory embraces Bedlam's rivalry with must-win mentality. Excerpt...

Quote:
Gabby Gregory is an Oklahoma kid and, like most in-state basketball players, she’s familiar with Bedlam.

Gregory, a Holland Hall graduate and starting OU guard, grew up just a stone’s throw from Stillwater. She’s attended basketball camps at Oklahoma State. She understands the passion of this rivalry.

And she wants to win in the worst way when the schools meet on Tuesday night.

“Bedlam is just a different game,” Gregory said. “All the other Big 12 games don’t mean as much as Oklahoma State. Growing up an OU kid, no matter what game it is, you don’t want OSU to win. You always want to beat OSU.

“When we played there (in last month’s 77-75 win over OSU), it was really just a surreal feeling. I’ve been there for camps and stuff before. To have all that orange around you and just playing in the game, it’s just different.”

why do you say that? Plays hard, good rebounder and averages 10 a game as a freshman and brings nothing to the team. What did Robertson bring last night? When she can't score, she brings nothing. She can't play a lick of defense as her girl drove by her all night, can't rebound, and not much of a passer. Do you want to go down the team with every player? I think you are too harsh just like I was about Robertson.

Perhaps I was too harsh. Chalk it up to my weariness with piss-poor performances and Sherri's endless excuses.

The truth is Gregory hustles hard. Get's some good rebounds and works diligently on defense.

She even hits the three-ball better than i thought she was.

Apologize. It was an unfair diagnosis born out of frustration.
