My guess is that a possible "next coach" will be brought in as an assistant in the next few years and will be groomed to take over.
We have two main problems this year. First no height in the middle. And second, no effective point guard. Too many games where your point guards have a 0 (zero) assist to turnover ratio is unacceptable. Especially when they also don't score much.
SC does seem to have issues that don't help with the current era of WBB, but it is not her religion causing them.

I hope not. OU needs someone from outside the program who understands that recruiting is the key to success and who makes that a priority. Someone who puts together a staff that is ready to get after it with recruiting. I have heard stories that OU would be recruiting a top player then out of know where, Sherri says we are not recruiting that player anymore. You have to go after athletes like Baylor, Miss State, and yes Texas. It is ironic Aston is terrible coach but she can recruit, X's and O's will not Janices and Jills.

Re: Newsok article
I too think it is more fitting the culture than a religous thing. I have always expected that the team environment is a love fest with a huge emphasis on being a good teammate with high values. Kind of a Kumbaya environment for those who remember that church camp song. Sherri seems to avoid players who may disrupt that environment.
If it were a true religous thing then I would think the emphasis would be to embrace the rough, underpriveleged but talented player and attempt to turn their life around and create a productive person with strong values.
If you read the new testiment that was the direction that Jesus went.
If Sherri wants a winning team next year she needs to be hot after transfers or JUCO's that can help the program next year. Then she needs to recruit a couple of strong inside players for 2020.
After watching her on the barbeque joint programs I think she is in utter shock about how bad things are this year. She appears to be a strong person so maybe she can transform her approach and return to past success. Among her biggest mistakes were recruiting only EJ who clearly should have been considered a project and doing nothing to replace Mulkey after she transfered. Two consecutive years of minus recruiting counting the transfers of Mulkey and Dungee. Then hiring her own son with no coaching background when having an opportunity to go after a Lincoln Riley level person. I think she thought that this would be a good year and he would get no criticism.

The last thing I would hope for is that the next WBB coach would be brought in as an assistant and groomed by Sherri to take over. To me Joe Castiglione would be shooting himself in the foot.
To me the game of NCAA WBB has made drastic changes in recent years and Sherri has shown and stated she is not going to change with the times. Why would we want that mentality grooming her sucessor?

You are actually agreeing with me.
As I said, someone will likely be BROUGHT IN and after a bit TAKE OVER. That is obviously not someone "inside" the program today. That has been very common in the OU athletic department. Not 100%, but very common. Just look at Football:
Gomer Jones
Chuck Fairbanks
Barry Switzer
Gary Gibbs
.
.
.
Lincoln Riley
All "insiders"
Basketball has not always done that, but usually basketball change has been due to issues within the staff. SC has a chance to see the end in sight - even if it is a few years away - and cement her legacy by setting teh stage for teh next era. Will she be wise enough? We will see. As I suggested it is not certain but it is possible.
SC needs to help Colton get a job elsewhere to preserve any possibility of him having a long tern career in WBB.

Re: Newsok article
If a change is ever made you have to let the whole staff go & start fresh.Bring in an established young energetic coach that realizes recruiting is the lifeblood of your program & you must have great assistants that can & will develop the talent that you recruit. Some posters on here have mentioned Lincoln R.& he realizes that. Why can't all OU athletic programs follow that model. Go Sooners!

Re: Newsok article
I will be very shocked if at least one of the coaches on the staff is not out the door at the end of this horrible season...if nothing changes after a season in which we win less than 10 games then it really does mean that the higher-ups could care less about OUWBB..just saying. You don't just ignore a season like this and hope for the best in the future. Obviously mistakes were made to get us to this point and a behavior adjustment needs to happen ASAP. Something is broken and it needs to be fixed and I believe that's SC and her attitude towards recruiting and coaching an attitude of contentment with mediocrity.

I suspect that you only have a few stalkers that may make some noise. The victim is neither dead nor helpless.

I told you this day (and all the ones leading up to it) was in the making in 2010. I didn't wait. I saw it coming. This type of demise does not happen overnight. These types of behaviors eventually catch up with you.

Re: Newsok article
I know who I would go after...........Dionnah Jackson-Durrett, Alma Mater: University of Oklahoma (2005)
COACHING HISTORY
2015-present: Mississippi State University (3 seasons - Assistant Coach)
2013-15: George Mason University (2 seasons - Assistant Coach)
2010-13: Southeast Missouri State University (3 seasons - Assistant Coach)
Mississippi State has Vic Schaefer as their head coach.....defense coach extraordinare.
I know there are several OU players who are assistant coaches but given who Dionnah has worked under since 2015.
