Default Kelvin interviewed with the Bucks

Not sure why he'd want to make a jump to the NBA at this point, but interesting none the less.

Yeah, he really wanted an NBA head coaching job for a while, but I’ve heard him say numerous times that shortly before his dad died, they had a conversation in which his dad really reminded him that college coaching is/was his calling. Maybe he feels like after building Houston from the ground up, he wants to take his shot at the NBA before it’s too late.

Hopefully he gets it and then Kellen gets his shot at Houston.

Cause the Bucks have Giannis. They need to re-tool their roster a bit, but the Bucks job is enticing because they have a top 2 player.

Guys on Houston talk radio said Sampson texted another connected Houston sportscaster today "Can't wait to coach in the Big 12 next year."

Would be a shocked if they or Philly don’t hire Nick Nurse.

His dad didn't get to experience college athletics in 2023 or he may have a different opinion.

I get that, but the NBA is a grind as well. Kelvin really want to uproot himself, likely miss the start of his son's college coaching career, and have to cater to rich 20+ year olds?

I doubt it. Guessing the interview was more of a favor than a plan to actually pursue the NBA.

Their coaching search has included almost every available assistant coach in the NBA so far. Now the retreads are being discussed, like Vogel and Atkinson. Sampson is on a long list of potential suitors. I wonder how many of the names already mentioned, including KS have a real shot at the job....

He was an assistant there for several years. Maybe just doing it as a courtesy for someone in their organization or maybe they are enticing him. I don’t think it’s because he has to play us next season. :-)

If he has any desire to coach NBA, it makes perfect sense. In fact, it's about the only way that he can keep coaching and hand off UH to his son.
