Glad you know everything as the self-proclaimed expert on highlight videos. I guess you have taught us all that the longer the video, the better the player.

All I said was that vast majority of players upload their highlights on media like hudl, YouTube, 24/7, rivals, Twitter (other multi million dollar platforms) in order to get maximum exposure. From there, they send the links to coaches, analysts, whoever. No benefit in limiting your exposure.

I also said that there is a correlation between better (usually means longer) highlight reels and receiving better college opportunities. Doesn’t take an expert to know that.

I will leave it there.

So you think most highlight reels that kids, hs coaches, and/or parents make are uploaded to YouTube or a recruiting service? I guarantee you that's not true. If that was the case, you could find a video of about 1,500 current high school kids in Oklahoma.

College coaches usually want a very quick highlight reel. They usually want 2-3 different quarters or halves. Everyone looks good in a highlight reel.

For perspective, Soares's transfer highlight video is significantly longer than Hunter Dickinson's and Ryan Nembhard's. It is so weird that anyone would think the length of the video has any real correlation to how good a player is. Here is an alternative explanation for why someone may put out a six-minute video: perhaps they realize they need to do everything possible to generate interest after a pedestrian season with poor stats?

Any player who played a full season and averaged more than a few points a game can come up with six minutes of highlights if so inclined. Again, using Jacob as an example -- he made 80 shots this season if my math is correct. You could get six minutes just from his made shots if you show those shots plus a second or so before the release. Add in rebounds and assists, and you could drag it out even longer.

highlights might get you a coach to look at you... these days viral things can get kids looks.

Heck ORU had a player a few years ago that wasnt getting any love anywhere.
Kid shows up to $150 kids camp in the summer and sticks out like you would imagine and gets them to look at him. Gave him a scholly.
