I'm just showing you how sports leagues can control endorsements to an extent

[quote=BoulderSooner;700144]sports leagues can fix wages with a CBA with a Union ..

sports leagues can not fix endorsements ... that is what NIL is the money doesn't come from the league (school/conf/ncaa) and thus can't be capped or regulated with out brand new federal legislation .(and even that might not survive in

You're spot on, Boulder! I agree a cap is not feasible. I'm assuming the motivation is to ensure competitive balance, not to keep athletes from realizing their market potential. That was why I suggested maybe an NIL revenue sharing model is possible, because it's not a cap. That being said, I'm skeptical thar is possible or practical either.

I feel like we're agreeing here. NIL isn't going away without legal intervention and I don't think anyone wants to stick their neck out to attempt reforms, certainly not elected officials!

You will start to see serious challenges when a team like A&M or a smaller school starts buying champions from the blue bloods

Its rumored that A&M boosters spent. Over $20 mil on their FB recruiting class last year, and App St proved on the field that they aren't a blue blood,, but I'm not seeing anyone jumping up to challenge them, except for those planning to outspend them next year (cough, caught, ut)

Ncaa already regulates nil. No college player can have a alcohol or gambling related nil. They loose eligibility if they do. No it’s not dollar value’s, but they do place limits.

If they continue to buy the type of class they just bought, they will eventually be a power regardless of who is coaching. There are HS coaching staffs that could consistently finish top 10 with that talent.
