Ordinarily I would agree, but I think their loss decreases our chances of winning Saturday from one in a million to one in a million plus one, so that angle doesn’t really factor in for me this year. Hate to go into a game feeling like there is no chance to win, but we don’t have the horses, or the poise, or beat them there this season.

The phog refs are the ones that will be pissed. Count the incoming FT disparity

TCU loses by a point at home to Northwestern State, who was 1-2 coming in.

It's clear that these mid-major teams are taking advantage of transfer portal (and high school because the transfer portal is limiting scholarships) leftovers, as well as the extra COVID year, to create some parity in college basketball. Much easier than football because 2 or 3 players can make the difference in basketball.
Also clear that TCU is probably not as good as originally thought.

Re: Big 12 talk (other teams games )
Surprised TCU is struggling so much. OU will have their hands full against our next opponent. They played decent against UNC before losing by 12-13. There are a lot of dangerous G5 teams.

They are definitely off to a poor start, but to be fair, they were missing their stud and another key guy tonight. Still have underachieved to this point, without question.

yep and they won 27 games last season (won the CBI)

Horns are kicking the ‘Zags butt & making them like it. Up 20 with 4 to go.
Edit: 93-74 final

Re: Big 12 talk (other teams games )
They haven’t played a great schedule, but KSU is much better than the past couple seasons. Shows again that very quick turnarounds are very possible with a new staff thanks to the portal.

Re: Big 12 talk (other teams games )
Tang has KSU really playing well. This is basically an entirely new team, with a new coach. And yet so many OU fans (basketball and football) seem to think it’s unfair to expect coaches to have much success in year one. I’ll say it again, in the portal era, when you are at a big time school with P5 resources, it shouldn’t take long to have success.

Not to make this about teams outside our conference (yet I will), but I have been watching alot of the Holiday tournaments this week. And from an athletic or playmaking standpoint, this OU team has a sizable ways to go when compared to what I've seen in the last several days. From an "eye test" point of view, it's going to be tough this year. That's not to say that this team can't develop some great chemistry at some point, but in the short term, this program needs a significant infusion of talent/athleticism to get beyond the level of a "bubble-ish" type of team.

Kstate hasn’t shown a thing yet but go ahead and crown them. I’m confident we finish ahead of them in the standings.

They’ve beaten multiple P5 schools and won a tournament. That’s a heck of a lot more than OU could say this time last year. And I’d sure hope we finish ahead of them since we have lots of returning players and don’t have a new coach.

Based on what I’ve seen so far the odds are not all that good that we finish ahead of them. I’d say 50-50.
