Oklahoma’s frustrating season ended in a frustrating fashion with a 62-53 loss in the first round of the Big 12 tournament Wednesday night in Kansas City.

With the loss, the Sooners end the year at 15-16. It is the programs’ third-straight losing season. Prior to that streak, OU’s last losing season was in 1981.

Oklahoma led by as many as five points early in the first half, but the Aggies took the lead for good with 4:53 left and never trailed the rest of the way.

The Sooners tied the game at 39-39 with 9:14 remaining and cut the lead to 47-45 with 4:31 left, but that would be as close as they would get as A&M pulled away down the stretch.

Romero Osby led the way with 17 points, while Sam Grooms chipped in 13.

The other trio of starters — Steven Pledger, Cam Clark and Andrew Fitzgerald — combined for just 20 points and shot 8-for-23 from the field.

Pledger, who came into the game averaging just over 16 a game, was 2-for-8 from the field and finished with just six points.

Overall, OU shot just 39.1 percent from the field (18-46) and 18.2 percent from 3-point range (2-11). They were also outrebounded 36-26.
