OUHoops.com was just informed by Wichita, Kan. (Sunrise Prep) center Gabe Olaseni that he will be visiting Oklahoma this upcoming weekend. . The 6-foot-10 shotblocker, originally from England, was considering Oklahoma before the recent coaching change.

In fact, before the coaching change Olaseni had a standing offer from the Sooners. The 2011 top 20 player in Kansas is known for being a defensive presence with his shotblocking, but has an improving offensive game.

Iowa, Auburn, Memphis are among the schools recruiting the athletic center, who visited Iowa the weekend of the March 25. Iowa is also involved with his Sunrise Prep teammate Eric Katenda.

Olaseni identified former Kansas State Wildcat star and current OU assistant Steve Henson as his primary recruiter for the Sooners.

With it unknown at this time how junior college center Phillip Jurick feels about Oklahoma’s coaching staff, it appears that Olaseni is one of the Sooners’ top targets as they attempt to add post depth in the late signing period. The need for more size in the post was a long pursuit by Jeff Capel when he was the head coach and new coach Lon Kruger is trying to address the issue as well.

Sooners still Recruiting Ellis
A source close to the Ellis family revealed that Lon Kruger reached out to the Ellis family last week to introduce himself. Kruger hopes to continue OU’s recruitment of the 6-foot-8 Kansas forward started by former Sooner coach Jeff Capel.
